Undaria pinnatifida extract. In this study, the Undaria extract reduced skin reddening by up to 45% relative to the control group.6
Fucus vesiculosus extract has also been shown in a human clinical study to reduce skin redness by up to 50% relative to the control group.6
has a unique ability to reduce skin spots. In a clinical study, instrumental evaluation of 20 volunteers showed a 20% decrease in colour spot intensity after just 60 days. A dermatological assessment was also undertaken at 60 days and concluded that 65% of subjects showed an improvement in skin spot appearance. Adding to these findings, 95% of all subjects participating in the trial self-reported a reduction in skin spot visibility.
Skin brightening Fucus vesiculosus extract has been clinically validated for its skin brightening effects. At very low concentrations, this ingredient can inhibit tyrosinase by 97%.1 Tyrosinase is responsible for melanin synthesis and its inhibition is instrumental in enhancing skin brightness. The skin brightening abilities of Fucus vesiculosus extract has also been clinically proven in a double-blind, placebo- controlled study, which involved 20 participants applying a cream containing 0.3% Fucus extract twice daily for a period of 60 days. Instrumental evaluation demonstrated an increase in skin brightness or gloss by 16%. A dermatological assessment was undertaken at 60 days and confirmed an improvement in skin brightness in 50% of subjects. Additionally, all participants self- reported an increase in skin brightness.6
Nourishing the skin from within The polyphenol-rich Fucus vesiculosus extract has the ability to beautify the complexion from the inside out. It supports healthy skin appearance by reducing systemic inflammation and restoring a calm metabolism. Studies have shown that this ingredient reduces and down regulates Interleukin-6, a biological marker of inflammation within the body,9
and
additionally inhibits the activity of inflammatory markers COX-1, COX-2 and LOX-15.4
New research further shows that
both the Fucus vesiculosus and Undaria pinnatifida extracts can significantly inhibit the production of key inflammatory mediators; TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6.4

are only sourced from wild grown, certified organic brown macroalgae from the world’s purest ocean waters. This includes the cool, remote ocean waters of Tasmania, Patagonia, Nova Scotia and Brittany. The seaweeds are sourced using best practice environmental standards. The Undaria and Fucus species of seaweed from which the ingredients are extracted, is hand-harvested in line with its seasonal growth cycle to minimise disruption to the environment and ensure sustainable growth. Once harvested, the seaweed is immediately dried to retain the natural bioactivity of fucoidan and its skin care effects.
Aqueous extraction Set apart from other fucoidan ingredients, Marinova’s Fucus and Undaria extracts are extracted using a gentle, cold water extraction process developed and used exclusively by the company. This proprietary technology uses green chemistry principles and advanced filtration methods to retain the natural bioactivity of fucoidan and polyphenols without the use of chemical solvents. Marinova’s solvent-free extraction technology guarantees the absence of solvents and chemical residues in its range of fucoidan ingredients. This process creates efficacious, highly active fucoidan extracts that are certified organic, non- GMO accredited, solvent-free, Kosher and Halal certified and nature-identical.
Non-sensitising and non-allergenic Extensive clinical testing has validated Marinova’s Fucus and Undaria extracts to be non-sensitising and non-allergenic. This ingredient is safe to apply topically at high concentrations, although clinical testing demonstrates effective bioactivity at a very low concentration of 0.3 % w/v.
Global acceptance Marinova’s fucoidan ingredients hold global regulatory acceptance. The solvent-free
