Innovation by healthy-ageing skin benefits In 2018 ‘Skin Thinking Ltd’ launched a survey conducted on 4963 British females aged 18-60+. Each of them were asked to tell “which of the following help you assess the ageing changes of your facial skin and any improvements you may see”.The main ways people assess the ageing changes on their skin are, by far, with their “own opinion” and “other people’s opinions”. “Scientific measurement data” is far behind. Most vivo protocols are linked to instrumental measurements. This allows rational claims. This does not strictly value what other people do perceive as visible improvement of skin. This is why Seppic decided to value an innovative approach which concludes with rational claims based on perception. In order to challenge the efficacy of the aforementioned EoAA we proceeded with the following protocol. Each person from the panel is photographed before treatment and after 28 days’ treatment. After the 28 days of treatment, each person from the panel is exposed to pairs of photos “before” and “after” treatment from each of the other people; each person needs to answer: in which picture does the person look younger? In which picture is the person less wrinkled? In your opinion, which picture reflects the treatment? Through such new methodology, we give credible importance to a rationalised perception of skin improvement. Results are positive and statistically significant. After a 28-day treatment, skin is perceived younger by people,15 which is also confirmed by instrumental measurements.16
Innovation by three prospective lines of development In terms of respecting biodiversity and promoting by-products from the food and wood industries. In fact, algae is being used more and more in the food sector, in particular as an alternative to animal proteins. The challenge for WeSource is to enhance these by-products, by ecodesigned extraction techniques. Each Seppic development project is evaluated according to an internal eco-design grid for the evaluation of the impact on the environment. The second development axis for WeSource is marine bioinspiration. Using a biomimicry approach, new products can be developed. The influence of the marine bacterial environment on the development of algae and their phytochemistry is also studied. The
