INSIGHT ONES TO WATCH APPARAT GAMING
Martin Frindt Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer Apparat Gaming
“What differentiates Apparat Gaming? Our German approach to game
development. This means
combining quality engineering with what we call Augenweide (it means eye candy) and no sense of humour whatsoever(!).” Martin Frindt
Why was Apparat Gaming established?
We are dreamers! No, seriously: we know that this is one of the most competitive industries, but one of the core elements of this is the potential for growth that such a landscape has to offer for companies that can enter the market with a product that is unique and of the highest quality. Te global gambling industry is big, but there is still plenty of room for growth as the transition from land-based to online gambling continues, and as we shift away from the Wild West towards markets being more tightly regulated. We wanted to join the other studios that have set off for this New Frontier and that led to us launching Apparat Gaming. Our primary focus has been on the German market – we are German, our approach to game development is German and our USPs are (you guessed it) German – but not least due to the... let's call it: special challenges of game approvals in Germany, we have since expanded to other countries in Europe and beyond, as the demand for our slot machines continues to grow.
What differentiates Apparat Gaming?
Our German approach to game development. Tis means combining quality engineering with
what we call Augenweide (it means eye candy) and no sense of humour whatsoever(!). Tis approach allows us to create games that stand out in any operator game lobby, and that also deliver the experience players are looking for, all with a very German look and feel. We are not here to reinvent the wheel – not yet at least – so our slots often include recognisable elements that we put our own spin on. A good example of this is our game Te Warlock’s Book. Tis combines the classic book game with other proven mechanics but in an innovative way so that it delivers a new player experience within a familiar theme.
Design-wise, what sets your games apart?
Augenweide, but not only. Bringing this concept into our games ensures they are visually striking and capture the attention of the player. But this goes beyond game graphics and into the next element of the German accent that each of our slots comes with. We want players to really get the “Made in Germany” experience, and this comes through in the quality of our games, as well as the technology that powers them and the reliability this provides. A good slot experience does not come from one area excelling over others – all components must come together to deliver the superior player experience required for success.
Do you have a standout title?
We’re really excited about a game that’s set to roll off our production line later this year. October Bier Frenzy is as German as it can be – it combines beer, bonuses and potentially big wins and will be released in time for the most famous celebration of beer in the world, the Munich Oktoberfest. Players will love the Collecting feature built into the Free Spins bonus. Tree up to five Scatters trigger 10 up to 20 Free Games in the beginning, and the more beer glasses that land during the bonus and are collected, the more Free Games the player receives with up to 50 up for grabs. October Bier Frenzy has all the ingredients to be one of our top-performing games for sure, and the timing of its release could not be better.
What's the vision for Apparat Gaming?
Success is not the result of one big thing, but rather lots of little things coming together in the right way at the right time. As a smaller studio, being able to reliably produce one, high-quality new game each month is something that we are incredibly proud of and ultimately provides the foundation we need for long-term sustainable growth. Tis may sound boring – some would say German – but this is how we approach slot development and the wider Apparat Gaming business, and it’s worked quite well for us so far.
