IAGA SUMMIT BELFAST GREY MARKET EXPOSURE YIELD SEC

alongside other legal stakeholders, to disrupt illegal operations and ensure evolution to legal and responsible alternatives. Our goal is to finally have facts that necessitate actions towards the high-value and high-volume online marketplace that online gambling represents. A marketplace should benefit our commerce and communities in each jurisdiction.

We also hope to help licensed operators to compete more effectively with illegal operators. By exposing the scale and scope of illegal activity, we can help to level the playing field for legitimate operators and to encourage consumers to choose legal and safe alternatives.

In terms of early results and reactions, we have been hugely encouraged by the support our efforts have received from governments, regulators, operators, suppliers and other legal stakeholders. Our data and analysis has helped to inform policy decisions and enforcement actions, and we have seen a growing commitment to tackling illegal activity and promoting the safe, fair and sustainable ecosystem. Yield Sec platform can play a critical role in promoting a safer and more responsible reality for online betting, gaming, and lottery activities.

Who is the target audience for your data - and what do you expect them to do with it?

Our target audience for the services, insights, recommendations and data that we provide includes:

Governments and Regulators We help them monitor and regulate the market for online betting, gaming, and lottery activities. Our data can help to inform policy decisions and enforcement actions, and ensure the market is operating in a responsible and ethical manner.

Law enforcement agencies We help them identify and disrupt illegal operators and activities. Our data can help to inform investigations and prosecutions and help reduce the prevalence of criminal activity in the marketplace.

Legal and licensed operators and suppliers We help them compete more effectively, against the marketplace, and against illegal operators, in particular. Our data can also help them to identify market trends and ensure they are compliant and operating responsibly. Our data and insights also underpin reporting for M&A activity and focus attention on what the audience and marketplace think and act like in relation to any buy or sell side target. So much future potential can be gleaned from Yield Sec analysis of the facts of online gaming performance, by jurisdiction, over and above the financials alone.

Media partners We provide data and insights to media partners to help them report on the industry in a responsible and informative manner. Our data can help to provide context and background

“Prior to Yield Sec’s launch, I

received a $10m offer from a Cyprus-based organisation to cancel the entire project and

information for news stories and other media coverage of the industry.

We expect that our data will be used to inform policy decisions, regulatory dynamics and processes, enforcement actions, business strategies and acquisitions, operational reality and responsible gaming initiatives and procedures.

Our data can be used by legal operators to remedy non-compliant advertising, for example, or by law enforcement, media partners and regulators to remove illegal operators and deprive them of the advertising ‘oxygen’ that media platforms and search engines provide. We can help prosecute a case - evidence it, case-manage it, provide all of the information and then go to court and offer testimony.

Are government agencies listening to what you have to say - what can you prove?

Since launch in August 2022, our data has been used to inform operational activity, policy decisions, enforcement actions, M&A acquisitions, and to support initiatives that promote a safer and more responsible marketplace for online betting, gaming, and lottery activities.

We have seen significant interest and engagement from government agencies around the world in the data and insights that we provide. We have worked closely with regulators, law enforcement agencies, and other government bodies to help them monitor and regulate the market for online betting, gaming, and lottery activities, and to help them identify and disrupt illegal operators and activities.

Have you had legal threats from operators to stop calling out their brands as illegal and they themselves as criminals?

We haven’t received any legal threats at all, confirming our approach and methods are based upon the provable facts of marketplace activity from the arena of that marketplace activity: the internet.

Prior to Yield Sec’s launch, I received a $10m offer from a Cyprus-based organisation to cancel the entire project and ‘simply go away’ – I declined. I receive daily death threats and face very regular online trolling so, as a result, I tend to avoid personal social media. Te threats do not worry or concern me.

We take our responsibility to provide accurate and actionable data and insights very seriously. We are committed to providing unbiased and objective analysis of the market for online betting, gaming, and lottery activities.

While we have not received legal threats from operators specifically, we are aware that there are some in the illegal industry who may disagree with our analysis or who may be concerned about the impact that it could have on their business. We believe that it is important to be transparent and forthright in our reporting, and to provide insights to legal stakeholder clients, subject to the client confidential relationships that entails. If there are any concerns or issues that arise from our monitoring and surveillance, we are always open to constructive dialogue and feedback, and an explanation of the unique dynamics at work in the betting, gaming and lottery ecosystem.

Your panel at IAGA discusses M&A activity - do you think that regulatory pressures in some jurisdictions are helping to drive further M&A activity?

I believe that regulatory pressures in some jurisdictions are definitely driving M&A activity in the online betting, gaming, and lottery industry. Many jurisdictions have tightened their regulations in recent years, with a focus on promoting a safer and more responsible market
