the live interaction of dealers and the skill and dedication of this first point of customer- contact. When so much advertising and promotion of gambling is being curtailed, the celebration of gaming that is the European Dealer Championship is an antidote to such negativity and the image of dealing as a low- ranked profession. If the EDC can find a wider audience, it might just be the promotional tool that the European Casino Association has been looking for and the answer to many issues that European casinos face post-Covid. Rather than place the emphasis of the EDC as an internal event to reward current dealers, it could act as a mouthpiece to showcase the talents, fun and excitement taking place within casinos for a wider audience both to participate as dealers and as customers.
What's special about the EDC is that it takes something we've all witnessed thousands of times over and it focuses our attention upon it. At the roulette or blackjack table, when you're concentrating on your bet, it's difficult to appreciate the skill, dexterity, sociability - the complete package - of the deal.
Te European Dealer Championship removes you from the game. It allows you to purely observe each element of the action, without distraction. When it works perfectly, the interaction of the physical deal, the explanation of the rules, the mathematics and engagement with the player - those that make this look effortless are mesmerising to watch. And in the Salle Medecin in Monte-Carlo, there was a room filled with such talent.

“I would like to thank our hosts, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains dear Mer for providing the picture perfect backdrop to this year’s event,” commented ECA Chairman, Per Jaldung. “It has been a privilege to witness the operational excellence first-hand; the world-class customer hospitality and share in the Monte-Carlo experience with our friends and colleagues.
“We are an industry built on the talent of our dealers, who are the first point of contact with our customers. Our dealers are the essential ingredient in our live gaming environments. Te EDC showcases the incredible diversity of talent nurtured by the land-based gaming industry, which employs over 50,000 people in Europe. Congratulations to Christoph Boo for rising to the top of an outstanding field of competitors. We look forward to welcoming Christoph back next year to judge the championship in 2023.”
Finally, ECA Secretary, Hermann Pamminger, thanked the supporters of the tournament, adding: “Te sponsors of the European Dealer Championship 2022 have all helped to make this competition such a memorable event this year. to host such elite dealer talent from so many European land- based casinos here in Monaco. The competition was intense, thrilling and most importantly, fun. All the participants created an atmosphere of
competitive rivalry, sharing their skill and know-how with their peers in a fabulous final that found a worthy champion in Christoph Boo." Pacal Camia,
