Champion Sports:

We want to be No.1 within five years

Simon Noble, Sportsbook Product Director at Champion Sports, explains how the supplier measures the success of its solutions, differentiating via flexibility, and creating a blueprint for cracking the U.S. market.

Simon has previously been candid about Champion Sports not yet being 'one of the usual suspects' when it comes to considering the top tier of technology providers. We begin our interview by discussing what differentiates Champion from the competition.

Simon Noble

Sports Book Product Director, Champion Sports

“The unique thing with sports in comparison to casino is the action doesn't happen on the screen, but on the field of

play. Everything we are trying to do is to make that process as seamless as possible, so players are able to place their

bets wherever they are be it in the stadium, watching on a live video stream or on the television.”

We'd certainly like to be part of the conversation for both new and existing operators when choosing a preferred supplier for sports and our aim is unashamedly to be one of the leading B2B suppliers for sports betting software in the next five years. In terms of where we are now, we are working with a diverse range of operators and going the extra mile to really give them what they need, whilst growing our team and our internal capabilities.

At Champion Sports we pride ourselves on going that extra mile to offer greater levels of customisation to create truly distinctive player experiences for operators that the larger incumbents won't provide. Terefore, we have built our software to be as modular as possible and have no legacy system holding us back. Ultimately, one of our big advantages is being able to offer flexibility.

We've massively increased our development capabilities and are in the process of hiring 50 additional developers to help us increase our capabilities and further reduce the time to market to benefit our operators. We are also expecting to make major announcements towards the tail end of summer and are currently integrating various feeds with the aim to deliver the fastest and most responsive betting experience for players at the very core.

In parallel to that, we have also submitted plans for a site we have purchased overlooking Douglas Bay for an office space for up to 330 people in Douglas on the Isle of Man, where we intend to base Champion Sports’ hub of technical excellence.

How does Champion Sports measure the success of its solutions? The ease and speed of placing a bet? Feature and function differentiation? The degree of localisation? Response time?

All of those factors. It's a very simple product in terms of creating and presenting new events, making various price changes and odds updates, then settling and crediting player accounts. Tat's the simple side of it, but we put an awful lot of effort into the UI and UX for that customer experience.

Te unique thing with sports in comparison to casino is the action doesn't happen on the screen, but on the field of play. Everything we are trying to do is to make that process as seamless as possible, so players are able to place their bets wherever they are be it in the stadium, watching on a live video-stream or on the television.

With casino, excluding live dealer of course, the action waits for you. Te event does not happen before you press deal, spin or whatever it might be to play the game. With sports, if there is a problem, punters will often claim that not only did they not get their bet down, but if their selection then went on to win, they then feel cheated out of the winnings. We do everything we can to avoid that situation from ever
