Hard Rock Granted Extension in Catalonia EMEA

Gilson Machado verteidigte die Eröffnung von Casinos in Brasilien, um den Tourismus anzukurbeln und Arbeitsplätze zu schaffen.
Die Regierung von Katalonien hat die Lizenzfrist für den Hard Rock Entertainment-Komplex in Vila- Seca und Salou um drei Monate verlängert. Die am 5. Dezember abgelaufene Genehmigung wurde bereits um ein halbes Jahr verlängert, nachdem die Regierung im Mai letzten Jahres die Lizenz erteilt hatte.
Die irische Regierung hat im Rahmen der Gesetzesänderung zu Glücksspielen und Lotterien ein neues Höchsteinsatzlimit von 5 € festgelegt.
Die französische Casino-Gruppe Tranchant hat die Verlagerung ihrer Lizenz für das Pau Casino in die französische Region Pyrénées-Atlantiques mit einem Besucherplus von 61,34 Prozent in der zweiten Jahreshälfte zum großen Erfolg erklärt.
Die Steuer auf Online-Glücksspiele in Dänemark wird im Rahmen des Haushaltsplans der Regierung für 2020 auf 28 Prozent der Brutto- Glücksspieleinnahmen angehoben – damit wird mit einer Erhöhung der Steuereinnahmen um 150 Mio. DKK gerechnet. Die Auswirkungen der Steuer- erhöhung um acht Prozent werden sich ab 2021 bemerkbar machen. Sie soll zusätzliche Mittel für die Handhabung von Glücksspielproblemen bereit- stellen.
Nach Angaben des georgischen Statistikamts stiegen die Bruttoeinnahmen aus der Glücksspiel- branche des Landes im Jahr 2018 auf 5 Mrd. EUR, was einem Drittel des BIP des Landes und mehr als dem Doppelten der im Vorjahr verzeichneten Summe entspricht. Unabhängige Schätzungen gehen jedoch von einem Umsatz von knapp 7,5 Mrd. Euro aus.

Te Government of Catalonia has extended the licence deadline for three months for the Hard Rock Entertainment complex in Vila-Seca and Salou. Te permit, which expired on December 5, had already been extended for six months after the government awarded the licence in May last year. In May 2018 the Government of Catalonia declared it had given Hard Rock permission to build a casino and leisure complex in Vila-Seca and Salou. To date, the Hard Rock subsidiary, which has contributed about €5.5 million in guarantees to maintain the right to build the casino and leisure centre, must undertake a capital increase that has not yet been undertaken.
A large scale project in the area has been in the pipeline for years but has been fraught with difficulties. In June 2015, the Veremonte Group, the investment company that had been leading the initiative to create Europe’s largest holiday resort in Europe (under the name BCN World) announced its decision to withdraw from the project. When it was abandoned, in order to guarantee the project’s continuation, the Catalan Government reached an agreement with La Caixa Bank for the rights to buy the 500 hectares of land allocated for BCN World.
In November the government of Catalonia
assured lawmakers that the negotiations for Hard Rock to acquire the land in of Vila-seca and Salou were still open. Te government was responding to a question put forward by members of the Comú Podem coalition. Te Minister of Territory and Sustainability, Damià Calvet said that the government “does not foresee any cost if the project does not start up.” Te Generalitat plans to acquire the land from Criteria CAIXA – the investment holding company of La Caixa and then sell the land to Hard Rock. However, the terms and clauses of the sales contract have not yet been defined. In June, Calvet assured lawmakers that the purchase will be made with no additional cost from state coffers.
Meanwhile activist groups opposed to the new leisure zone on Catalonia’s southern coast have demanded that the licence for the Hard Rock Entertainment World be revoked. Both Aturem BCN World and environmentalist group Ecologists of Catalonia (GEPEC) filed a petition last month to revoke the Hard Rock casino license before the General Directorate of Taxation and Games Department. According to opponents of the new resort, Hard Rock did not present all the documentation required in the bidding process which took place in May 2018 and which expired in November 2019.
Austria NOVOMATIC sells stake in Casinos Austria
NOVOMATIC AG has agreed to sell its 17.19 per cent stake in Casinos Austria (CASAG) to the Czech- based SAZKA Group, subject to certain conditions precedent, including regulatory approvals and rights of other CASAG shareholders. Harald Neumann, NOVOMATIC AG CEO confirmed:
“Te previous ownership structure has led to no satisfactory development of Casinos Austria. As the smallest major shareholder, we have therefore decided to sell our CASAG shares in order to allow CASAG a clear ownership structure. It is important to enable a stable and sustainable shareholder structure that secures the company in the long term for the future challenges of national and global markets." NOVOMATIC AG will keep its 11 per cent share of the Österreichische Lotterien GmbH.
SAZKA Group publicly assures and promises to ÖBAG (Österreichische Beteiligungs AG, which manages the investments of the Republic of Austria in several listed companies), fair Supervisory and Management Board representation for the future, regardless of size of SAZKA Group shareholding in CASAG.
Robert Chvatal, SAZKA Group CEO commented futher on the agreement: "We believe it is the best solution for the company. We want to ensure stable positive development for CASAG in a long- term partnership of its two biggest shareholders. We are committed to work jointly with ÖBAG and CASAG team to achieve well-being for its customers, employees and communities we do business with. We are prepared to focus on CASAG business and bring innovations to the market.“

Cardiff City Council has yet to confirm rumours that it plans to issue a fourth casino licence in the Welsh capital. At present, Cardiff is served by three casinos; Grosvenor Casino Cardiff, the recently refurbished Rainbow Casino Cardiff and the sizeable Les Croupiers Casino. Te current casinos appear to be thriving, with a fourth competitor arguably dividing the same share of the business further, but the council argues that building a fourth casino would also create new jobs and opportunities for those working in the city, as well as an additional draw for both tourists and locals alike. Tis could stimulate the city’s economy further, while also catering to the huge growth in the Welsh gambling market, where slot games, in particular, have proven popular.
