UNITED KINDGOM ICE London 2020
ESPORTS LANDS IN LONDON WITH $250,000
Te number of people set to experience ICE London 2020 is set to grow exponentially following Clarion Gaming’s decision to co-host a $250,000 US prize money professional eSports tournament that will be live broadcast to an online global audience in excess of 5million. Te ground-breaking initiative, which is being undertaken in partnership with
GG.Bet. will comprise an 800sqm state-of-the-art Esports Arena featuring a custom built stage, an educational auditorium, commentator ICE box, partner
data.bet lounge, a themed bar and a betting hatch allowing players to ‘bet’ ICE and
GG.Bet dollars in order to simulate eSports wagering. Described by Clarion’s recently appointed Head of eSports, William Harding, as representing a ‘global industry first’, ICE London’s Esports Arena will provide visitors with the practical tool kit and strategic insights to take full commercial advantage of what is one of the industry’s fastest growing wagering sectors. Te live event, which will be streamed to eSports fans worldwide, is only open to over 18-year-old, b2b delegates.
CONSUMER PROTECTION ZONE ATTRACTS STRONG INDUSTRY SUPPORT
ICE London's Consumer Protection Zone (CPZ), which in 2020 will enjoy an enhanced location on the show floor and a footprint that’s up 30 percent year-on-year, has gained leading industry sponsors for the initiative putting the campaign on course to exceed its monumental charitable donation in 2019. Clarion Gaming have already received sponsorship contributions totalling £35,000 with £5,000 pledged by 888 Holdings, Kindred Group, Videoslots, GVC, Genting, ALEA and LeoVegas. All proceeds from this year’s sponsorship will go to a gambling charity nominated by the sponsors and announced prior to the opening of ICE London 2020. Reflecting on the swift response to what will be the third edition of the Consumer Protection Zone held as part of ICE London, Ewa Bakun, Director of Industry Insight and Engagement at Clarion Gaming, said: “We have got off to a fantastic start and have already matched the £35,000 which we were able to present to the Gordon Moody Association in February 2019.”
Ewout Wierda, General Counsel at
Videoslots.com believes the Consumer Protection Zone has become a key feature of the ICE London experience. He explained: “Social responsibility is a corner stone of building customer trust and is integrated in our business. We aim to be industry leaders in offering safe transparent, fair and social entertainment. Likewise, the Consumer Protection Zone makes social responsibility a natural part of business when the industry meets at ICE London. We gladly support putting social responsibility at the heart of the industry.”
Te Gordon Moody Association, which used the CPZ sponsorship fund to add more
languages to its Gambling Terapy service and to increase its weekend support, believes ICE London provides an important platform for the social responsibility debate. Rob Mabbett, Gambling Terapy Manager at Gordon Moody, confirmed: "It is great to hear that more space is being given to the CPZ this year and a more prominent location has been agreed. Sustainable and Safer Gambling needs to be at the heart of every aspect of the gambling sector and ICE London provides a unique environment for all parts of the industry to come together. Te donation we received at ICE earlier this year enabled us to add Polish and Russian speaking advisors resulting in more people throughout the world being able to benefit from our unique multi-lingual service.
"For the Gordon Moody Association it is an important event as we look to develop existing relationships with the industry as well as forge new ones. For our International service, Gambling Terapy, ICE London provides us with an opportunity to network with the global gaming community helping us reach and support more and more people worldwide each year. We very much look forward to 'stepping into the future' with the industry at ICE London 2020.”
ICE London (4-6 February 2020, ExCeL London, UK) is the world’s largest gaming technology event and in 2019 attracted a record 36,093 visitors from a 155 countries. “Clarion Gaming's mandate is to provide platforms to inform the entire industry and I believe the addition of the Esports Arena fits into that model perfectly,” explained Harding. "ICE London has a phenomenal reputation and is at the forefront of innovation not just across gaming but in the entire events industry and this new feature will truly allow visitors to ‘Dive into the future’. Te Esports Arena will be the one-stop shop to learn and experience everything about eSports and introduce a whole new world of bettors. Insight expert presentations will explain how to attract an audience that has perhaps previously been difficult to engage with. Tere will also be 'how-to' guides focussing on generating revenue and maximising ROI.
“We want to give an authentic eSports experience in ways which have never been seen before. We will have eight of the best Counter Strike teams in the world competing, including the top tier global eSports team Natus Vincere (NAVI), playing real time games which will be streamed to real fans around the world, all of which will be live on the ICE London showfloor. For land-based operators interested in how to produce a tournament, we will be effectively building an authentic eSport show live in front of them. Highlighting the level of production necessary to deliver a tournament on this scale, the arena will allow delegates to go behind the scenes with our production team as well as providing player interviews throughout the competition, showcase broadcast editing insights and deliver tournament structure and data/ performance analysis. Te educational auditorium will feature a full schedule of presentations on topics such as how to use eSport data to create odds, eSport recruiting and eSport wagering.
Harding added: "With market reports showing registered eSports wagering of $5.6bn in 2015 has grown to $13bn this year, it’s going to be one of the must attend features at ICE London for operators and gaming brands alike.”
