We’re set to launch at least three new roadmap solutions this year, with further developments in both our S-Series and M-Series offerings which we announced in Barcelona. Beyond 2025, our partnerships with AMD and Intel provide us with early access to

next-generation technology, allowing us to stay ahead of industry trends and plan for 2026 and beyond.

Advantech Never Standing Still

Advantech's Koen Stomph, Vertical Industry Specialist Gaming & Retail, shares his reflections on ICE Barcelona and previews a busy product roadmap for 2025.

Koen, what are your thoughts and feelings on ICE Barcelona?

Although I was initially skeptical, the spacious setup worked well, and the land-based hall had a great atmosphere. I’m eager to see the official numbers, but traffic seemed strong, and our meeting schedule was fully booked. I did notice fewer attendees from the U.S., but I’ll wait for the final statistics to confirm this trend.

Are there any recurring themes or trends from the conversations you are having with clients, both potential and existing?

As we were showing three new products based on AMD Ryzen Embedded 8000 Series with XDNA NPU (DPX-S, AIMB Mini-ITX and SOM COM Express), this was a key topic in many conversations. Te boost in graphics performance of this processor series enables designers to eliminate dedicated GPU cards in many cases. AI in gaming was also a frequent topic and we were pleased we had various Edge-AI products on the stand to showcase. I think it is fair to say Advantech is positioned extremely well in facilitating Edge-AI implementation in gaming applications.

Each gaming platform series is aimed at a different market, sector, and application. Who are the latest DPX solutions (M275 and S460) designed for? What needs do they address, respectively?

Te DPX-S series is our all-in-one range, offering specific features required in today’s gaming devices. A DPX-S system such as the DPX- S460 (AMD Ryzen Embedded 8000 Series) provides everything you

need to be compliant with e.g. GLI11 regulations, a broad range of I/O, security, intrusion detection, COMs, NVRAM, etc. By having everything on one board, developers can focus on content rather than dealing with hardware. And we take care of longevity through backward compatibility, strict revision control and maintaining the form factor throughout the years.

Te M-series with the latest addition of the DPX-M275 (Intel 12/13/14th Generation Core) is positioned more closely to the mini-ITX standard, but with some gaming related extra’s such as RTC, intrusion detection and discrete inputs. Te modular expansion architecture allows cost effective modules to be added for the specific application, adding features such as I/O, COMs, NVRAM, security and specialised interfaces. Compared to the DPX-S Series, the M-Series provides greater scalability, making it ideal for those with existing gaming I/O solutions or requiring varying hardware configurations across different devices.

When do you anticipate Advantech’s rotation between Intel and AMD products will come to an end given AMD's pending exit from the gaming industry? Is AMD's level of support for customers winding down?

AMD, Intel and NVIDIA remain key strategic chipset partners for Advantech in many global markets, including the Gaming Industry. Of course their focuses can change from time to time but we retain good relationships at all levels and have many ongoing and new projects in development. Tis will not change. What does change is the level of
