Herzog to lead Casino Oftringen
Te Board of Directors of Swiss Casinos Holding AG has nominated Melanie Herzog as the future director of the planned casino in Oftringen.
Te Swiss Casinos Group submitted a license application for the casino in Oftringen to the Swiss Federal Gaming Board to open doors on January 1, 2025.
SWITZERLAND CASINO OPERATIONS
Holland - LNW agrees Holland Casino deal Light & Wonder has announced a new agreement with Holland Casino to install the CoolSign systems product as their Narrowcasting Multimedia solution across all 14 locations of Holland Casino. The new agreement was reached following a successful bid process which saw Light & Wonder selected as the partner of choice.
The CoolSign system boasts several powerful tools designed to dynamically manage digital signage content across multiple casino sites via a wide area network system. The 16-display wall has a graphics engine of up to 4,000 high pixel resolution. The media system can be zoned with up to seven areas, which includes the facility to host Live IPTV channels and streaming. Additionally, it includes integrated lighting and sound adding to the overall presentation that is engaging to the player on the casino floor.
The system also provides fantastic marketing functionality tools that benefit the overall operations for Holland Casino. This includes the centralised management of EGM progressives, that can be displayed on screens to create excitement and awareness directly with players.
The Netherlands - Entain purchases BetCity Entain has completed the acquisition of BetCity, one of the Netherlands’ leading licensed operators in the newly regulated online sports betting and gaming market. Since its licensing in October 2021, BetCity has continued to deliver strong growth, maintaining approximately 20 per cent of the market.
An initial consideration of €300m (approximately £266m) will be paid on completion. A balancing payment will be paid once BetCity’s financial performance for 2022 is confirmed. A further contingent payment will be paid in early 2024, based on 10x BetCity’s EBITDA for the financial year 2023 less amounts already paid out.
Hungary - EveryMatrix wins lottery tender Hungarian national lottery operator, Szerencsejáték, has become EveryMatrix’s sixth global lottery client in an agreement that coincides with the launch of the country’s online sports betting regulation.
EveryMatrix will provide Szerencsejáték with a suite of digital sports betting software solutions and services for its online brand TippmixPro, through a multi-year agreement was awarded to EveryMatrix after a 15-month competitive procurement process with more than 25 bidders.
EveryMatrix believes the technology will ‘transform’ the Hungarian national lottery company and its TippmixPro brand’s digital sports betting offering
through integrating its OddsMatrix sportsbook platform and data feeds.

Te Swiss Casinos Group has submitted a license application for the casino in Oftringen to the Swiss Federal Gaming Board as of January 1, 2025. Te Federal Council is expected to decide on the license applications in October 2023.
Melanie Herzog joined the Swiss Casinos Group in 2013 as Head of Quality Management and Compliance. In February 2017, the board of directors appointed her director of Casino Schaffhausen, which she has managed successfully ever since.
As project manager for the concession application in Oftringen, Melanie Herzog has dealt with this location in depth and already knows it well. She lives in the canton of Aargau, which will help her in her new role. With this appointment, the Board of Directors recognises and thanks Melanie for her excellent work as Director of the Casino Schaffhausen.
Te Swiss Federal Gaming Board has proposed zones for the award of licenses to the Federal Council. Te municipality of Oftringen is in the “Basel” zone. Te Federal Council approved the ESBK's proposal, but reserved the right to deviate from these guidelines "when granting a license as an exception and in justified cases, if market conditions allow it and the goals of the Gambling Act can still be achieved.
Te requirement for a concession (Type B) is met if around 100,000 people or 300,000 (Concession Type A) live in the catchment area within a driving distance of 30 minutes.
Swiss Casinos is convinced that the Oftringen location meets the requirements. Te 30-minute catchment area of the planned Casino Oftringen fills a gap in the Swiss casino landscape, despite a partial overlap with the casinos in Baden, Basel and Lucerne. Even without these overlaps, 400,000 people live in the catchment area of Casino Oftringen. Te well-established casino in Basel should not be in competition with the casino in Oftringen.
Switzerland GiG establishes Swiss market footprint
Gaming Innovation Group (GiG), has signed a Head of Terms agreement with an established land-based and digital casino operator in Switzerland, for the provision of its player account management platform (PAM).
Te announcement marks GiG’s entry into the burgeoning Swiss igaming marketplace, starting the new year in a similar fashion to 2022, in which it enjoyed a growth in demand for its full suite of solutions from operators around the world.

Having opened as recently as 2019, the regulated Swiss market is
proving an attractive proposition for retail operators, as they look to take advantage of the opportunities online iGaming offers in the region.
With 11 online casinos currently licensed and regulated by the Swiss Federal Gaming Board, the market is expected to grow to over €400m GGR by 2024, according to information supplied by H2 Gambling Data.
It is expected that the full contract will be signed with the casino operator in Q1 2023 with a projected go-live in Q1 2024. Te agreement has been proposed for an initial period of five years, with the opportunity to be further renewed going forwards.

Online slot games accounted for 80 per cent of revenue generated by casino games.
