Is being green a big push for Konami?
Eduardo Aching Vice President of International Gaming Operations Konami Gaming
“There is an
increasing trend for games to have sophisticated
features, animation and sound that requires a more powerful mainboard. This is one of the
main reasons we are bringing DIMENSION to the market.
Another important element for operators to consider is the new technologies used in the creation of new cabinets.”
What's fundamentally different about these cabinets?
Te DIMENSION 49J is our brand- new cabinet. Typically, a new series of cabinets are released every three to four years. Te new DIMENSION family of products is our latest and greatest which visitors to our stand at ICE London can experience for themselves.
Tere is an increasing trend for games to have sophisticated features, animation and sound that requires a more powerful mainboard. Tis is one of the main reasons we are bringing the DIMENSION series to the market.
Another important element for operators to consider is the new technologies used in the creation of new cabinets. In the case of the DIMENSION series, a major technological innovation is the reduction in energy consumption.
Efficiency is key - a few years ago lights weren't LED, and the power supply was less efficient. Tis is of great value to operators - just ask them how much they pay on their energy bills monthly.
It is. For example, when we recently expanded our manufacturing in Las Vegas we pretty much doubled in size. Underneath the new building we have invested in a geothermal energy converter meaning we use much less energy from the grid. Everything in the new facility has been designed with a greener planet for future generations top of mind.
What level of consideration is given to the ergonomics of Konami's cabinets?
Ergonomics are crucial, so much so that players and operators likely don't appreciate how much effort and investment that goes solely into this design aspect.
Our 20+ years of experience in creating cabinets informs every ergonomic detail such as the angle of the monitors, the height of the button deck, chair and base, and the lighting on the side of the machine. Every new cabinet is adapted to the needs of today's players.
How does the DIMENSION series improve upon the last range Konami presented at the ExCeL?
February 2020 was the last exhibition Konami attended in Europe. Te biggest difference between the DIMENSION series we're showcasing this year compared to 2020's line of cabinets is visual.
Te graphics are more impressive as the mainboard is much more powerful. Tis allows us to bring more exciting features and new animations to players.
What do the differing cabinet designs in the DIMENSION series bring to the casino floor?
I wouldn't say they are designed for different players, but for different segments on the casino floor. Te whole range of cabinets fits these segments.
Te DIMENSION 49J is our premium cabinet. It's an elaborate curved monitor with LED signs designed to attract certain player types.
Te DIMENSION 27 is more standard, catered towards more traditional players who prefer a lower spend level. Having three of four types means we can offer solutions to customers that can fit every single segment they have - not just the cabinets themselves

but the games available on them.
What does stacked-screen content bring to the casino floor?
We're innovating more on the content. Although the DIMENSION 27 is more cost effective for operators, they are a good niche. Our cabinet ranges need to also range in price from low to high.
Te DIMENSION 27 is for day-to- day players who want value for entertainment. Tey'll bet low and for a long time. Te functionalities and animations based on the new flatter form we have brings excitement through the colours and high-definition monitors.
How have games been created for the DIMENSION series?
An industry trend of the last five years has been the move towards a 47–49-inch portrait cabinet and linked progressives. Te games we have on the DIMENSION 49 and DIMENSION 49J are predominantly linked progressives – as visitors to our stand at ICE will see these games have features that are synchronised across a bank of machines.
We're trying to create one unique experience that crosses over
