May, 2021 hi-TeCh evenTS APEC 2021 Transitions to Digital Format for 2021
CHICAGO, IL — The Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC) has transitioned to being presented as a fully virtual event and will take place from June 14 to 17, 2021, on the digital event platform Social27. The show was originally to be held in Phoenix, Arizona. The virtual format will
ensure the safety of the commu- nity as well as allow more global professionals to participate, offer greater flexibility in accessing live, on-demand and recorded content, provide Q&A sessions and a complete virtual exhibi- tion, and offer multiple opportu- nities to network on the digital platform. “The safety and wellbeing of our participants remains our top
priority,” said the APEC 2021 conference committee in a state- ment. “While we look forward to the moment when everyone who wants to participate in an in-per- son APEC can do so safely and confidently, we are not there yet. Continued global travel restric- tions, unknown guidelines regarding large gatherings and social distancing protocols make it impossible to move forward with an in-person event at this time.
Registration is now open,
with early registration discounts in effect until April 30. Prerecorded content will be made available to registered con- ference attendees beginning the week of June 7. The schedule and content of the plenary ses-
SMTconnect 2021 Cancelled, to Resume in 2022
STUTTGART, GERMANY —Due to a continuing high rate of infec- tions from COVID-19 and the associated restrictions, Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH has decided to cancel the SMTconnect exhibition for 2021. The event was scheduled to
take place in Nuremberg from May 4 to 6.
Discussions with exhibitors
in recent months, as well as feed- back from participants in last year’s virtual conference, have shown that the focus of the SMT community is on in-person, face-
to-face events. This interest is also shared as the top priority of Mesago, which led to the difficult call to cancel SMTconnect 2021 and not to hold a virtual event in its place. SMTconnect is expected to
be held in its usual form onsite in Nuremberg from May 10 to 12, 2022.
