Würth Updates Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Module
Waldenburg, Germany — Würth’s wireless connectivity and sensors division has introduced firmware version 3.4.0 of
its Proteus I
Bluetooth module. It offers a more than two-fold improvement in uni- versal asynchronous receiver trans- mitter (UART) baud rate, with maxi- mum data throughput increasing from 36 to 80 kb/s. The newly introduced UART
flow control is designed to guarantee that no data packets get lost on the UART. With the improvement in data throughput, the new module is compatible with all BLE 4.2 devices on the market. Manufacturers that make their products Bluetooth- enabled using the Proteus I BLE module can now also completely con- trol how it appears to the communi- cation partner. The device name and icon can
be displayed to the user in the list of possible Bluetooth connections. A profile can also be added with the device information service (DIS) to
Keysight Introduces DDR Memory Simulator
Santa Rosa, CA — Keysight Technol - ogies has introduced its PathWave Memory Designer, a new double data rate (DDR) memory simulation capa- bility that is part of PathWave Ad - vanced Design System (ADS). The new capability makes it easy for developers to compare simulated data with actual measured results, reducing the time required to complete product develop- ment workflows. DDR memory designs grow more
complex with each generation, and simulation and test configuration also grow in complexity, resulting in longer simulation and test set up times. The added complexity makes it harder to correlate simulation and test data, resulting in less confidence in designs, longer troubleshooting cycles and missed delivery schedules. PathWave ADS Memory Designer connects simu- lation and test workflows, addressing common DDR memory design chal- lenges with new workflows that auto- mate routine tasks and harness data analytics to gain faster actionable insight into simulated data. Keysight’s PathWave helps cus-
tomers to accelerate workflows with powerful software that enables agile, connected design and test. PathWave offers open APIs and open-source com- ponents that enable customers to cus- tomize the platform and integrate with their current hardware and software. It has a scalable architecture and flex- ibility to run on a dedicated worksta- tion, in the public or private cloud, or
on embedded instrument software. Contact: Keysight Technologies, Inc., 1400 Fountaingrove Parkway,

make more of the device’s informa- tion available with wireless technolo- gy, such as the name of the manufac- turer or the serial number. The Proteus II 2.4 GHz BLE
wireless module measure 0.4 x 0.3 x 0.08 in. (11 x 8 x 2 mm) and includes Bluetooth Smart, the serial port for emulating a serial cable connection. Data transmission is enabled with the AMBER SPP-like profile, which is based on the optional Bluetooth 4.2 “data length extension” feature and increases data throughput.
Companies can assign their own
universally unique identifier (UUID) to make the BLE profile their own. Würth also offers customers individ- ualization of the firmware and guar- antees adherence with the relevant
guidelines in the wireless domain. Contact: Würth Elektronik eiSos GmbH & Co. KG, Max-Eyth-Strasse
