Stefano Vanacore is the director of the laboratory of Pompeii Archaeological Site. His work is varied: he may be found using modern medical methods such as CAT scans to reveal the life and health of the people in Pompeii, using lasers to remove stains that formed in the pigment of fresco walls or testing antibiotics to save frescoes attacked by bacteria. These are just some of the many different jobs that he is involved in. Check out the articles on mentorbooks.ie/resources that detail how he spends his time and which show very clearly that archaeologists do not spend all their time digging in the dirt.
