A short history of the Industrial Revolution The revolutions that took place in America and Europe were very important from a political point of view, i.e. they changed the way in which society was ordered. However, there was a different type of revolution during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries that perhaps changed people’s lives even more, and that was the Industrial Revolution. This revolution changed the way people farmed (agriculture), the way they worked (industry) and the way in which they travelled from one point to another (transport). The transformation was known in general as the Industrial Revolution. It began in Britain and it took place between 1750 and 1850.
