A. How Do We Know about Ireland in the Early Twentieth Century?
There has been a lot of historical investigation into the events of the early twentieth century. The significance of the events that took place during these years has meant that there have been a lot of commemorations for centenaries. Written sources such as eye-witness accounts, diaries, government and rebel documents have been valuable to historians. In the same way that we have information about World War I and II, the events in Ireland have been well documented. We even have films and photographs from this time. Interviews with many of the people who lived through the period have been recorded. Recently, in the years leading up to 2016, historians produced a lot of research on how the major events of this time impacted on the daily lives of the ordinary people.
