Improving pati ent experience


Hundreds of staff across the Trust heard about the importance of introducing themselves to their pati ents during a visit from Chris Pointon on his global campaign tour at HHFT leadership forum which was broadcast to all sites.


Chris founded the #hellomynameis campaign alongside his wife, Dr Kate Granger. Kate was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer at the age of 29. During her treatment, unti l she passed away in 2016, she was shocked that not everyone looking aft er her introduced themselves before delivering care.


Together they launched the #hellomynameis campaign to highlight this issue and encourage healthcare staff to introduce themselves to pati ents at the start of every interacti on. The campaign has been a huge success and is being adopted by hospitals across the world.


Chris said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported me by coming along to hear me talk. Thank you to all of the staff at the Trust for doing what they do every day and for supporti ng our campaign.”


Donna Green, chief nurse, added: “It was a huge honour to welcome Chris to Hampshire Hospitals and hear his amazing and inspiring story.


“As a Trust, we are committ ed to making sure that we all say ‘Hello, my name is’ to each and every pati ent and visitor that we come into contact with.”
