Rare Gas Recovery and Recirculation Variant Added to Range of Dry Vacuum Pumps

Edwards Ltd has launched a special variant to its nXDS range of dry scroll vacuum pumps which is ideally suited for pumping rare or critical gases.

10 ml 100 ml

nXDS dry scroll pumps are free of lubrication in the entire pumped path of the gas. The special variant nXDS-R is optimised for situations where an application demands the pumping or recirculation of rare or critical gases without the risk of accidental introduction of atmospheric air. For example, as helium becomes a scarcer and increasingly expensive resource, there is more desire to recover and re-use this rare gas. By removing the gas ballast feature, which is significant for applications where condensable vapour removal is important, this creates a hermetically sealed pump from inlet to outlet with no moving seals and no possibility of accidental introduction of atmospheric air.

The advanced technology guarantees vacuum integrity for the customer. The pump is lubricant free and hermetically sealed so it provides a totally clean and dry vacuum. The bearings are isolated by the bellows, so that all the pump’s bearings are totally outside of the vacuum and pumped gas path.

The pump offers a low cost of ownership due to its long service interval (up to 5 years for the first service, depending on application), and it is quickly and easily serviced without complex or expensive speciality tooling.

The pump also features intelligent and easy to control functions with simple operation. Full serial communications mode provides feedback about the state of the pump, enabling scientists to optimise their process and schedule routine maintenance conveniently. It also assists with preventative maintenance regimes, as the nXDS pump indicates when service is needed via a light indicator on the control panel.

nXDS-R is incredibly easy to install and run. It is a simple ‘fit and forget’ pump which provides excellent performance for many years. It has low acoustic noise of only 52 dB(A) and is extremely quiet in the laboratory.

690ad@reply-direct.com More Power for New Micropump Drives

The compact and lightweight MICROPUMP range of magnet drive pumps are now available with all-new electromagnetic brushless DC motors which provide increased torque and power for liquids handling applications requiring higher flow rates. Available through Michael Smith Engineers the new EagleDrive™ model MS option is a compact, high performance drive providing a speed range of 500 to 10,000 rpm, torque of 70 mNm, power of 48 watts and weighs just 0.3kg.

The new MS drive can be coupled with the GA, GAF and GJ Series of Micropump’s stainless steel, leak free gear pump heads, covering capacities up to 1800 ml/min and differential pressures to 17 Bar. The MS drive can also be integrated with Micropump’s abrasion resistant centrifugal pump, the CA Series, for circulating and transfer applications requiring higher flows and lower differential pressures.

The small package size and increased power opens up new options for designers along with easier integration into system designs, while fewer moving parts means higher reliability and longer life. Other features include speed adjustment using 0-5 vdc signal, over temperature, under voltage and internal fault output signals, forward and reverse rotation, surface mounted electronics, built-in microprocessor control and tachometer output for simple system integration.

Stand No. 980 Inert Low Cost Flow Meter for OEM Applications

Titan Enterprises announces its third generation 800 Series flow meter range. The new 800 Series flow meters incorporate a wide range of developments further enhancing long-term, high performance operation for OEM customers in drink dispensing, laboratory testing, cooling, pharmaceutical, medical and semiconductor applications.

The competitively priced 800 series turbine flow meter is designed to give high performance (+/- 0.1% repeatability) across 6 flow ranges from 0.05 to 15 litres per minute. It’s totally non-metallic wetted components make it the ideal choice for the metering of a wide range of fluids from -25°C to +125°C. To ensure the highest degree of inertness to metered fluids the new 800 Series flow meter body is now

moulded in an FDA approved grade of PDVF. The new 800 Series standard ‘O’ ring is FDA approved Viton® (alternative elastomers such as silicon, EPDM, nitrile, Kalrez, Simrez are also available). The magnets in the ‘Hall Effect’ turbine flow meter have been over moulded to provide long term chemical resistance and are in the same material as the body. Small adjustments to the internal geometry of the 800 Series flow meter have resulted in improvements in the lower flow ranges performance. The flow meter bearings remain the same robust, inert sapphire that has served the product so well over the past 25 years. The outside of the meter is identical to the previous construction.

To further expand the range of applications the 800 Series can serve - a new version of the flow meter is available in polypropylene for fluids with high pH values. To ensure the availability of an optimised solution for your flow metering application, Titan is happy to discuss differing flow ranges, pressure drop requirements or cable configurations and connectivity for OEM customers.

Valveless Micro-Volume Fluid Control for Catheter Manufacturing and Assembly

The PDS-100 is a programmable fluid metering and dispensing system which integrates Fluid Metering’s patented CeramPump®

valveless pump technology with precision, programmable

drive motor control. The pump head internals are made from chemically resistant, sapphire-hard ceramics, ideal for dispensing a broad range of fluids. Saline, silicone lubricant, isopropyl alcohol and antibacterial agents, as well as UV curable adhesives, cyclohexanone solvent, and 2-part epoxies are fluids typically utilised in catheter assembly and easily handled by the PDS-100.

The PDS-100 is available in both single and dual pump head configurations. For duplex configurations, the displacement and speed of each pump head can be individually controlled, ideal for proportional mixing and diluting. Duplex configurations can also provide economic 2-channel dispensing, effectively doubling production capacity at a fraction of the cost of using two individual dispensers.
