A Level PHYSICS Overview of subject:
Physics is the foundation of science, attempting to create a unified theory to explain observations throughout the universe, from the incredibly small to the incredibly large. This A-Level will give you insight into how fundamental particles interact, how objects move and how systems behave. The breadth of study in this A-Level creates an amazing landscape of phenomenon that can be explained with the most simple of equations or the most mind- bending of thought experiments.
Exam board and specification number: AQA / 7408 (A, B, C, D or E)
Course outline: Units: Particles and radiation, Waves, Mechanics, Materials, Electricity, Further Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Fields and their consequences, Nuclear physics.
1 ‘optional unit’ from: Astrophysics, Medical Physics, Engineering Physics, Turning Points in Physics, Electronics.

Physics is a practical subject, applying mathematics to real world situations though investigations. As such, you will learn how to use a range of equipment to develop your investigative skills. This course will challenge you to think critically and use your knowledge in new contexts to solve problems. Physics is one of the most sought after A Levels with graduates enjoying careers as Engineering, Banking, Medicine and Research.
