Sixth Form Curriculum

Our unique 16 – 19 study programmes offer a personalised Sixth Form education to the whole range of students in Year 12 and 13, whatever their aspirations and prior Level of achievement.

Matravers students are exceptional and throughout our amazing Sixth Form we support students to ensure that their unique set of talents and abilities are recognised. This is through both the opportunities within lessons and also beyond the classroom through the wide and diverse extra-curricular life of the school.

Our Pathway curriculum, blending both modern and traditional routes, is diverse and enables students to succeed. The flexibility built into our curriculum enables students to build a bespoke package that suits their individual needs. Our expert advice and guidance ensures that students’ decisions and choices are well informed and supported.

We offer a wide variety of courses that meet the needs of all our students and include both A Level and vocational courses.

We encourage students to select three subjects which will form their core curriculum in the Sixth Form. This may be solely academic (A Level), solely vocational, or a combination of both. Please note, with the on-going changes to A Level specifications, we no longer offer AS qualifications in subjects in which we feel this distracts from the full A Level.

To complement the courses for their chosen pathway, all students in Year 12 also follow a programme of independent study and enrichment curriculum activities. The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is highly recommended for all students.
