A Level BIOLOGY Overview of subject:
A Level Biology focuses on a range of concepts related to a variety of living things. The course develops an appreciation of the complexity of life and includes how and why things happen in us, in other organisms and in the environment around us.

Course outline: Paper 1 (2 hours) 1. Biological molecules 2. Cells 3. Organisms exchange substances with their environment. 4. Genetic information, variation and relationships between organisms.
Paper 2 (2 hours) 5. Energy transfers in and between organisms. 6. Organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments.
7. Genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems. 8. The control of gene expression.
Paper 3 (2 hours) Questions relating to Units 1 – 8 listed above and practical skills in Biology.
