A Level DRAMA
Overview of subject: A Level Drama consists of three components. Throughout the preparation and performance of these units, students study a wide range of practitioners and approaches in both practice and theoretically. Students will experience a wide range of plays and live theatre performances while working creatively together to explore all of the potential that theatre has to offer.
Exam board and specification number: AQA / 7262
Course Outline: Component 1 (40%) A 3 hour written paper studying two set texts and a live theatre review. Component 2 (30%) A devised performance and supporting logbook.
Component 3 (30%) Workshop and performance of 3 extracts, including a performing to an external examiner.
Why choose the subject?
Drama is an engaging and varied subject to study at A Level an includes lighting, sound, props and costume in addition to practical drama skills. Drama can lead to a wide range of career options from teaching to criminal psychology as it develops the ability to think quickly on your feet, collaborate effectively with others, creatively interpret new situations and ideas as well as communication and presentation skills.
