A Level ENGLISH LANGUAGE Overview of subject:


A subject that challenges you to think differently. A course that requires independent study through the medium of an enquiring mind. You will travel the journey of language over a 400 year period as well as exploring the way you learn to talk, read and write. A subject for the inquisitive!

Course Outline Paper 1: Analysis of language features. Study of child language acquisition. Paper 2: Study of language diversity linked to gender, power, ethnicity, age, technology, accent and dialect. How language has changed over time from 1600 to the present day. NEA: An investigation into a language idea of your choice (2000 words). A piece of original writing with an analysis of your own writing.
