International freshness brand Micro-Fresh has named Jigna Varu as its Global Commercial Director. The new role sees the 28-year-

old take charge of the brand’s global commercial activities, including managing strategic partnerships and business development with its offices in Europe, Asia and North America. Jigna joined the Leicester-based

company in 2013 in a part-time role in Client Services as her first job out of university, and has since worked her way through the ranks, working as the firm’s Global Commercial Manager before this most recent promotion. Jigna said: “I’m incredibly proud

to be heading up the company’s global commercial activity and continuing its success both at home and overseas. “Although I had a passion for

science from a young age, I never saw myself in a lab coat. Working at Micro-Fresh has given me the opportunity to combine my love of science with my passion for communication, and I have been very fortunate to work for a company that has allowed me to thrive and develop.” Byron Dixon OBE, creator of Micro-Fresh, said: “Jigna has

demonstrated excellent customer awareness and has built excellent relationships with our growing client base, suppliers and staff in the UK and overseas. Appointing Jigna as Global Commercial Director was the logical next step as we saw she had the skills and ability to help the company grow, and this latest promotion recognises her achievements so far. “Thanks to Jigna, Micro-Fresh is

now an established brand and a highly-regarded freshness technology, and we’re delighted that she will be helping the company continue this level of growth in her new role.” Originally developed in 2006 as

an anti-mould agent, Micro-Fresh technology now features in products offered by retailers such as John Lewis, M&S and Debenhams, as well as supermarkets such as Tesco and Sainsbury’s.

One of Leicester’s oldest charities, The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity, which provides interest- free business loans of up to £20,000 to entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 35 within the county, has welcomed two beneficiaries as official charity ambassadors. Hannah Myatt accessed the

charity’s funding to aid the development of her business’s premises in the city’s Church Gate. Ram Karia applied for an interest- free business loan to expand his company and acquire new vehicles. Both ambassadors will now

support The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity in spreading the word of how the charity can help aspiring business owners or young businesses within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland; providing prospective applicants with first-hand accounts of how the charity works and the benefits available. David Howard, Chair of Trustees

at The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity, said: “We are delighted to welcome both Hannah and Ram on board as ambassadors and look

forward to working with them to reach more aspiring entrepreneurs across the county. “There is nothing more inspiring,

and reassuring, than hearing from those who have utilised our charity and successfully started or developed their business. With the help of our ambassadors, we can emphasise the incredible provision that is available to start-ups and young businesses in the county.”
