Residential Services for Older people in Cork are provided in HSE run Community Hospitals and Community Nursing Units throughout Cork City and County. Each facility provides high quality individualised care to its residents who are availing of a range of services such as long term residential care, respite, convalescent, transitional care and palliative care. Each facility is registered with HIQA and is committed to the implementation of ongoing quality improvement programmes.


We now wish to form a panel of Staff Nurses with a commitment to the delivery of high quality person centered care in the following areas:


– Farranlea Road Community Nursing Unit, Cork City – Heather House Community Nursing Unit, Cork City – Kanturk Community Hospital – Fermoy Community Hospital – Kinsale Community Hospital – Bandon Community Hospital – Clonakilty Community Hospital – Midleton Community Hospital – Cois Abhainn, Youghal – Youghal Community Hospital

The exhibit was entitled “More than a Number” and displayed artwork in various forms which in- cluded poetry, painting, prose, and parody which showed the country’s con- tempt for the situation which 221 families are currently experiencing, with 3,000 further smear test samples waiting to be re-examined. Carol Murray, a young mother directly affected


by the scandal of errors, gave a speech detailing her


extraordinary jour-


ney through the minefield of missteps and sidesteps of the various medical professionals and systems she


encountered along


the way. Blame has been shifted around from one group to another while mothers, sisters, daugh- ters – families continue to suffer the consequenc- es, or wait anxiously for news. The large turnout at the exhibition admired
