Carrigtwohill United AFC
Under-9 V Crosshaven Venue: Ballyadam Park The
Under-9’s played
another CSL game at home to Crosshaven last Saturday, on a beautiful sunny after- noon in Ballyadam. It was brilliant for the players to get some game time back on their home pitch, having spent so much of the year on the all-weather surface. 16 of the Under-9’s at-
tended and played out 2 small sided games against Crosshaven. It was great to see the enthusiasm of all of the players for the games, given that many of
them
had already played GAA, Camogie, and other games earlier in the day. Each team got to play 2 small sided games with some great skill and deter- mination
again on view.
Carrigtwohill’s opponents on the day were a talented bunch and all
the games
were played out in a very sporting manner. The players all seem to be loving these
series of
games and it is clear to see that they are improving all the time.

Carrigtwohill : 5 Grenagh United : 1 Carrigtwohill’s
latest
league game took place on Monday night at home to Grenagh United. A very poor start from a lot of the lads saw them concede after 5 minutes when a corner kick wasn’t cleared proper- ly. Sloppy play all over the pitch was putting our de- fence under pressure. However, Carrigtwohill
finally managed to get a foothold in midfield through excellent work from Cillian and Jack and they scored a deserved equaliser when a corner kick from Ben fell to Tadgh O’Connor, who blasted the ball into the net.
Half time - 1 all. A few strong words were said during the break and the lads in fairness respond- ed well with a much im- proved performance. Play- ing on the front foot and forcing Grenagh back, the home side took a deserved lead when a great through ball from Cian was latched on to by Ryan Cooke who finished to the net. Now well on top, they really drove on and got a third goal short- ly after when a driving run from midfield by Jack led to him being brought down in the box for a penalty. Jack took it to send the keeper the wrong way. Cian then got the 4th efforts on the
,
which his night
deserved and Car-
rigtwohill sealed a compre- hensive win late on when man of the match Cillian McCarthy scored with a
curler into the top corner to seal a 5-1 win which keeps their unbeaten league run going.
Man of the Match: Cil- lian McCarthy
Under-12- March - Player of the Month March player of the
month was presented after a recent game in Ballyadam. The first winner was Cil- lian McCarthy. Cillian, who plays holding or attacking midfielder, deserved his award for the work he puts in at training and matches. His all action play means he is either breaking up oppo- sition attacks or setting up chances for his team mates. He is also able to chip in with goals. Cillian is a very valuable member of our squad. The
2nd winner this month is central defender
Ben Murphy. Ben leads the team from the back with his leadership. A great reader of the game who controls his back line expertly and is a deserving monthly winner.

Under-10 V Rockmount Venue: Ballyadam In the
latest of league round games, Car-
rigtwohill’s Under-10’s finally got a beautiful sun- ny morning to play. They were hosts to Rockmount this week in Ballyadam and played four 7v7 games. Rockmount
provid-
ed the home team with a stern test and competed for everything. Both teams were very committed, giv- ing their all while being very fair. Both teams were a credit to their clubs in the way they carried themselves
on the pitch, very respectful to everyone involved while playing with a smile on their faces. The football played was
fantastic. There were great skills on show with players showcasing their individual skills both in attack and de- fence but without a doubt the most pleasing thing was the way the team tried to play football. Carrigtwohill played out from the back superbly, kept the shape of the team and are now add- ing some composure to take the time to find a pass. The lads worked so hard in train- ing it’s great to see when it works out for them in the matches. The benefit of all the
league games is easy to see, with every player getting the chance to show off their skills and value to the team. Another great performance.

one game left. Shane O’Reilly scored a well deserved goal after 16 minutes.

played really well, and were fully deserving of the half time lead. The home side got on
top from the beginning of the second half, and got the equaliser after 13 minutes. However, Midleton
immediately
responded from the
kick-off, with an excel- lent goal from Eabhan de Barra. Eabhan got a second ten minutes later to give a bit of breath- ing space. This was a very hard

well, and worked real- ly hard. One more win needed. However, May- field are only two points behind, so we can’t af- ford any slip up. Well done lads, keep
it going.
