Midleton & Area Chamber of Commerce AGM 2018
The 2018 AGM for
Midleton & Area Cham- ber was held at the Mid- leton Park Hotel on Mon- day 30 April. The outgoing officers
were all returned, and ap- proved by the members. The 2018 President is Mr Stephen Belton, MD Garryvoe Hotel & The Bayview, Ballycotton; Vice-President, Mr Fer- gus McCarthy, McCarthy News; Hon Secretary, Ms Sinead Morrissey, MD Bertelli Menswear and the Hon Treasurer is Mr. Pat Walshe, of Pat Walshe & Co, Chartered Accountants. In his review of the
year just gone, Stephen Belton, President, noted that he had only assumed the presidency following an EGM in June of 2017 when he replaced Mr Patrick Shields who had taken up opportunities elsewhere. He thanked
the Chamber members for their support during the year and noted their participation in some im- portant Chamber events: Mackey’s Coaches and Leahy’s Open Farm had helped to make Magi- cal Midleton an excel- lent day – with a packed train bringing Santa from Cork. The Shop Local Christmas Draw was big- ger and better than ever. The Chamber’s monthly meetings were well at- tended by members and he thanked the individual members who hosted the meetings. The big event was the August 2017 launch of the Midleton – the Heart of East Cork brochure. A lot of work went into it from Andrea Gunn, Flanagan Print and the Chamber and Tourist Office staff. A major change during the year was Andrea Gunn’s departure as Business De-
velopment Manager and the recruitment and ap- pointment of Ms Colette Barry as her successor in March 2018. The Cham- ber Committee is looking forward to working with Ms Barry in the future. Mr Belton also not-
ed that the Chamber’s membership had grown massively under Seamus Cunningham and he hoped it would contin- ue to grow in the years to come. This is impor- tant for representing all the business interests of Midleton and its locali- ty. He thanked Ignacio Peregrina and Jameson Experience for providing the Distillery Lodge as a Tourist Office and the Chamber Office. For further infor-
mation, please contact Colette Barry, Business Development Manag- er: Colette@midleton-
