Ballinhassig Too Strong For Watergrasshill Ballinhassig 1-22
One of
Watergrasshill 0-15 the favoured
sides to win this Pre- mier Intermediate hurl- ing championship is Ballinhassig,
and they showed why they are
one of the fancied sides with an impressive win over Watergrasshill at the Blarney venue on Sun- day afternoon. Sean Coleman and
goalkeeper Patrick Col- lins were the main score getters for Ballinhassig while Shane O’ Regan kept Watergrasshill in touch throughout the
some well taken points. O’Regan was ploughing a lone furrow in terms of scoring as Watergrasshill trailed by 0-11 to 0-7 at
opening half with
the interval. Ballinhas- sig continued to get bet- ter as the game went on with Fintan O’Leary at full forward doing well and their goal from Colin Reynolds put the seal on a victory that was com- fortable in the finish. Watergrasshill will
have another chance but will need to show signif-
icant improvement in at- tack if they are to remain in contention. Ballinhassig: S

man 0-8, C Reynolds 1-1, F O’Leary 0-4, P Collins 0-3, C Tyres, M Collins, D O’Donovan and S Mc- Carthy 0-1 each. Watergrasshill: Shane

Fr. O’ Neill’s came out
on top of this East Cork local derby at a rainy Pairc Ui Chinneide Killeagh on Saturday evening last in the opening round of the Cork County Premier Hurling Championship. The
rain did not help proceedings
as both teams failed to deal with the elements. Aghada set the pace of
this game in the opening few minutes where
both
Cian Fleming and Piece O’ Neill were very influ- ential, both in play and on the scoreboard where they had a point each. Cillian Broderick swapped a point with O’Neill on the
4th and 6th minutes to put wo
points between the sides. Daniel ‘Harrington added a second point for O’Neill’s while Liam O’Driscoll lev- elled the game as we drew near to the quarter hour mark. An injury to Michael Russell delayed proceed- ings a few minutes but on the
resumption, Aghada
commanded the game with three points on the trot, two from Fleming and the third from Charlie Terry to dou- ble the lead. The only spark in this half came on the 27th minute when on the second
attempt, O’ Neill’s rattled the Aghada net with a Joe Millerick goal, the first at- tempt from Eoin Conway being stopped by Trevor O’Keeffe on the line. Agha- da finished the half a point to the good with a second Terry point in added time. Mark O’Keeffe raised O’
Neill’s first white flag of the second half when he point- ed from long distance three minutes in. Charlie Terry kept Aghada in front with another point a minute lat- er but then a golden eight minutes for O’ Neill’s result-
ed in two goals and a point to put them in the driving seat for the first time in the game. For the first goal Declan Dalton did what he does best with close in frees, bury them, after Eoin Conway was fouled. Three minutes later the mentioned were
afore- involved
again for their second goal when Conway flicked a long Dalton free past Tre- vor O’Keeffe for a peach of a goal. Liam O’Driscoll added a further point at the three quarter mark to put six points between the
D McCarthy 0-1 each. Ballinhassig: P

with Daniel
Harrington adding a brace of points and Joe Millerick chipping in with another to send the Ballymacoda/La- dysbridge
contingent
round three. Scores: Fr. O’Neill’s:
