Castlelyons play the ‘Hill IN Division 2 IHL Final.
Division 2 Hurling League Final, Castlelyons v Watergrasshill in Lisgoold at 3.00pm This game is now finally
a fixture after numerous provisional dates and it’s Castlelyons versus Water- grasshill in the Division 2 IHL final in Lisgoold at 3pm. This promises to be a cracker of a der- by as Castlelyons parade All Star nominee Colm Spillane and recent coun- ty senior medallists with Imokilly Colm Barry (full back), Niall O’Leary (centre back), Tom Car- roll and Aidan O’Sullivan and many more good men anxious to deliver. Howev- er, we have many injuries in Anthony Spillane, Alan Fenton and Keith O’Leary. The team have trained well but played little games in the recent past. The ‘Hill will provide extreme- ly tough opposition having come out the right side of a relegation battle recently and they will be going into Saturdays game as slight favourites. They have men from the Imokilly panel
in fine goalie Dara O’Cal- laghan, Denis O’Farrell, Shane O’Regan and many other good players. This is an important game for Castlelyons as it would be an achievement to end the season with a bit of county silverware so best of luck to the players and our management team. We would appreciate your support. Castlelyons Abú.
Congratulations to Colm Spillane. Celebrations were the
order of the day (and evening) recently as Im- okilly won the senior hurling championship and we had a few lads on the team, panel and back- room set up. However, it was a special celebratory time for Colm Spillane, his family and our club too as Colm received a PwC All-Star Hurling Nomination for 2017. As is tradition, the nomina- tions are divided into three goalkeepers, 18 defenders, six midfielders and 18 for- wards and Colm received a defender nominee. So, what a night of glitz and glamour as the stars hit Dublin’s Convention Cen- tre last Friday night for a gala black-tie Banquet and photographed into histo- ry as part of the red-car- pet gallery. The final 15 were presented with their
awards and all the nom- inees with specially com- missioned certificates of achievement. A massive year for our man who re- turned from serious injury to full fitness with Castlely- ons and Cork so congratu- lations again Colm and the best of luck for 2018
Wedding Bells for Colm and Bríd. Congratulations to one
of our former players, Colm Dorgan, and Bríd Dunne who were mar- ried recently in Limerick. Colm was some wielder of the camán in his hurling days as I remember some years ago down in Shan- non he banged in three goals against Wolfe Tones in the Munster clubs sen- ior hurling league and Bríd is a renowned traditional musician. We wish them many happy years togeth- er.
Cork GAA Clubs Draw. The Annual Cork GAA
Clubs draw has com- menced and the first two monthly draws took place last Friday night. This is a top Draw and is massive value for money as down through the years we have been reasonably lucky in the Club winning prizes of a car, holiday, laptops, iPads, €1,000 and €500

couldn’t dampen our girls’ spirits as they welcomed our neighbors, Dungour- ney, to Castlemartyr for this eagerly anticipated clash. Our girls put on a great a display of team- work and skill. Although Dungourney fought hard our confident defense and clinical forwards did enough to ensure victory. Well done to Dermot and the girls as they now look
forward to their encounter v St. Catherines in the semi final. Date and venue to be confirmed.
U12 East Cork Final
Castlemartyr 04- 01. Cobh 01-05 Our outstanding U12
girls were crowned East Cork League Champions last Sunday morning with their victory over Cobh. There were exceptional performances throughout the pitch from both teams. Cobh proved formidable opponents and it took a lot of hard work from our girls to quell their attacks and to convert scores of our own. At half time we led on a score line of 02-
