by ALAN SHEEHAN Killeagh hosted a party

to celebrate the end of the road works this last Sun- day, 5 November. The

event, Killeagh hosted at Hall and or-

ganised by the Killeagh/ Inch Community Coun-

cil, served as both a cel- ebration of the comple- tion of the Killeagh N25 Pavement

Strengthening

Scheme and a reminder to the public as to the busi- nesses, clubs and services the village offers. “It was a party to let people know that Killeagh

is alive and well after the road works,” said Helen Kennedy, of Killeagh/ Inch Community Council, “and to celebrate the fin- ishing of the road works. We had a directory of an awful lot of services in Kil- leagh and we had an infor- mation desk where people

could look up those servic- es. There was also dancing, tea and cakes and so on as everybody was celebrating the end of the road works.” The road works in Kil-

leagh originally began in September 2016 and were hoped

within 35 weeks. However to be completed

delays, such as an archae- ological discovery, pushed back the completion date. The

works’ elongated

timeline, along with its re- quired traffic management measures, saw congestion on either side of, and all along

the N25 through, Killeagh for over a year. the

“We would like to thank everybody who gave

us

help in anyway,” said Ms Kennedy, “and who con- tributed to

directory

by giving us their phone numbers. The people who gave baking, we would like to thank them of course. We would also like to thank

people for their patience while the road works were on. Even people from out- side of the parish were held up when it wasn’t their fault, but we’d like to thank them for showing patience. And finally we would like to

welcome everybody back to Killeagh.”
