Lower Aghada Tennis Club
Centenary Open Day: 28th
May
ALL ARE WELCOME! Lower Aghada tennis and sailing club was found- ed in 1917 making this year the 100 Year Anniversary! We would like to welcome
the community to help cel- ebrate this occasion on 28th May from 2pm to 5pm. To mark the occasion of
our centenary there will be a guided history tour through the club and a historical display including lots of pic- ture and a Model T Ford! The members from Cobh Animation Team have very kindly agreed to help add to the atmosphere with their costumes of the era. There will be lots of op-
portunities to find out about our club and the activities available to members.
All
abilities are catered for with- in the club from complete beginners to those who like to play competitively. Tennis is truly a game
for all ages, one of the few sports that all generations of a family can play together. Kids will be kept enter-
tained by the coaches ( and perhaps some surprise guest players) on court and by our entertainers in the club house

beautifully renovated club house and meet club mem- bers and coaches. You will also have the opportunity to try your hand at playing, it’s as easy as picking up a racket. Strawberries and cream,
teas and coffees are avail- able to whet your appetite and weather permitting, the BBQ will be lighting. Last year everybody had
so much fun and this year promises to be even better! Come and join us for an afternoon of fun for all ages.
Upcoming Events Summer Tennis Camps:
Kids and Teens: Summer Camps will run
for children aged 4 – 14 on July 10th
to 14th and August 21st , 17th to 25th
to 21st from
10am to 1pm. The camps are suitable
for children from age 4 to 14 and will cost €65 for mem- bers and €75 for non mem- bers. Teen tennis (14+) will run from July 17th
to 21st
from 2-4pm. Yoga for Tennis: Gary Colbert is running
a Yoga class specifically geared towards tennis play- ers on Mondays at 6pm. The cost is €8 per class. The class is designed to increase

the following times every Monday and Wednesday: U-6 (2-3pm), U-8 (3-
4pm), U-10 (4-5pm), U-12 (5-6pm) and O-12 (6-7pm). Friday Morning Drills: Jo-Anne is running Friday
morning drilling sessions for grades 6 to 4. It’s an early start from 9-10.15am. Contact Jo-Anne for further detail.
Coach By Topic: The popular “coach by
topic” sessions by Michael Russell are back on Sun- day mornings at 8.45am. He will focus on a different topic every week and costs 10euro.
JUNIOR TENNIS Over 12 Match Play Match play for over 12’s,
hosted by Brendan Kirrane, Gillian McIlrevy and Vin Barry runs every Saturday from 12 to 1pm. Games are organised and fully super- vised. It’s a brilliant oppor- tunity for our teenage mem- bers to have some game
practice.
Friday MatchPlay Michael Russell is run-
ning junior match play on Friday afternoons. He’s putting the
kids through
their paces with some drills followed by game play. It’s great to embed the lessons they are
their coaching sessions. 7-10yrs are welcome from
3-4pm, 10-12yrs are wel- come from 4-5pm and 12yrs + are welcome from 5-6pm.
Advanced Junior Matchplay Paul Fitzgerald is running
advanced Junior match-play on Tuesdays from 6 -7 pm. We have some strong players enjoying this opportunity to get in a bit of match prac- tice.

great opportunity to show- case our club.
Club Night Club night is held every
Wednesday from 7.50pm. It’s €2 for members and €5 for non-members. It’s always a great social night and an opportunity to play with a variety of peo- ple.
EVERYBODY is wel-
come to join us for this love- ly weekly social event. Cardio Tennis is held
every Sunday with Michael Russell. It’s €10, open to non-members and pay as you go.
Ladies tennis is proving a
huge success and increasing in popularity. It is held every Thursday morning and
all members are welcome. Bring the children, they will be supervised while you play.
