And to that end, the station will be hosting an open day at the lifeboat station in Youghal on Sunday (28 May) between 2pm and 5pm for all interested can- didates to learn more. Youghal RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager is calling on any volunteers
to come along to the sta- tion on Sunday and find out more: ‘We are looking for anyone aged 17 years and over who is willing to offer some of their free time to join what I believe to be, one of the most ex- hilarating and rewarding voluntary services that

out there. Every volunteer receives first class training from the RNLI and learns new skills which can benefit them in many walks of life. Lifeboat
crew members
need to have a reasonable level of fitness, have good eyesight and not be colour blind. Anyone who would like to volunteer but feels they would not meet requirements for
the lifeboat
crew should in no way be put off, as shore crew also play an essential role in the launch and recovery of the lifeboat when it goes on service’. If you cannot make the

her own” so to speak, even though she will be travelling with a group from all over Ireland. She doesn’t know any of them, but this does not make any difference to her plans.

awaits her in Belarus, Sa- rah said “I know my eyes are going to be opened and that it will upset me, but it is something that I really want to do, and I hope I will bring some help and love to the chil- dren there”. Parents, Pat and Betty
said they are so proud of their daughter.

loves children”, Betty said, “and going to help them in Belarus is what she really wants to do”.
