Carrigtwohill United AFC

Under – 11 Venue : Temple Park Date : 16th

May

Last Tuesday evening, our Under-11’s travelled in great numbers to Tem- ple Park on the North Side of the city to take on Tem- ple United. On a lovely evening for football and on a very good pitch, our lads played two very entertain- ing small sided games. The squad showed great

improvements in the posi- tionnal and technical play which was very visible on the evening. It was great to see them play good passing and ground football. The lads have

been working

hard in improving their overall game in training and this was evident on match day. There was also a feast of goals on the night, in-

cluding a cracking hat trick (well done Charlie) and a well

from a good corner

taken headed goal ball

(well done Ben). All in all, a very good

performance from our u11s and all returned back to Carrigtwohill very satis- fied with a good evening’s work. Well done lads.

Under-15 Venue: Castletreasure Date: 19th

May Corinthian Boys 5 Car-

rigtwohill 0 With the season com-

ing to a climax, the Car- rigtwohill Under-15’s headed to Castletreasure for an away tie with Corin- thians. Over recent weeks, the league table had tight- ened quite a bit, with 5 teams now being separated by just 4 points so a posi- tive result would be needed

to continue the promotion push. Despite the

Carrigtwohill were from the right wing,

optimism, one

goal down within 5 minutes of the start. After a probing cross

Carrigtwohill were unable to properly clear their lines and the Corinthians mid- fielder sent a thunderbolt of a shot into the top left corner of the net. Not for the first time this

season, Carrigtwohill were a goal down with an uphill battle ahead but it is with great

credit they fought

back to take control of the match with Ronan Ymedi, Anesh Swani and Darragh Hoare all coming close to scoring an equaliser as the first half progress. However, the fight-back hit a set-back when man- agement had to make 3 substitutions due to injuries

Hard Luck to our Senior Team Hard luck to our seniors

today who went down 3-2 away to Everton in very windy conditions in a win- ner takes all game, Midle- ton took the lead after half time through a fine Conor Fitz goal after a superb build up. Midleton were comfortable in large parts of this game and were defi- nitely the better footballing side, but Everton had the luck on the day and a wind assisted equaliser straight from a corner ,gave them a lift and they grabbed a 2nd

rallied again but Everton grabbed a 3rd

shortly after, Midleton on the break.

Micky Ryan pulled one back for magpies but it was little too late for a

come-

back. Congratulations again lads on promotion to the premier division, roll on next year back in the big time ⚽️

U16 John Cooke Cup q/f Midleton 3 Park Utd 1 Midleton are

to a home semi of the Cooke Cup following an excellent victory on Friday night. This was probably the lads best

performance this season, so well done all. First half goals by Robbie Kinnane and a super strike from El- lis Rowlands on the stroke of half-time capped a su- per passing display. Ab- dul Backinson extended that

two late goals. Overall, a fine display

footballing

by every one of the play- ers. Some poor results in the middle of the league campaign put paid to our chances of pushing for the league title. However, on- wards to the John Cooke cup quarter-final, at home to Park United

lead to 3-0 midway

through the second half. The only down side was the concession of a Park goal 10 minutes from time. However, well done and good luck in the semi. Best for Midleton on the night - EVERYONE!

U16 Div 2 Midleton 6 Mayfield

United 3 Midleton U16s finished

through

their league campaign in style with a 6-3 defeat of visitors Mayfield. Goals by Eabhan de Barra, Jack McGann and David Debuf had the score 3-2 in an open first half. Scott Fenton scored to make the score 4-2, with “Su- per sub” Robbie Kinnane finishing a good week for himself and the team with

Midleton U13A league Carrigaline 1 v 5 Midle-

ton U13A Midleton under 13a

finished their season on a high today beating Car- rigaline 5-1 away! Goals from Evan, Oisin, Happy, Sean W and Fionn! Men of the match are Evan Dawson and Jacob Laf- fen. All credit to Carri- galine who I must say are the most respectful team we have ever came across! The coach Paul and his partner should be proud of the way they have thought their lads! Congrats to both teams.

Congratulations A Big Congratulations to

Oran Crowe who has been chosen as the Cork School Boys League U14 Player of

before the 25 minute of the half. Evan Donnelly came in up front and he went close within a couple min- utes and Abdul Rahim on the left wing made an im- mediate impact. The half-time team talk

was straightforward – it was a case of continuing the work of the first half as the goals would sure- ly come. However, things don’t always work as they should ! The opening 15 minutes

of the second half was to follow the pattern of the first, but the equaliser just would not come. A strike off the post, a header nar- rowly over the bar, an un- fortunate miss from inside the 6 yard box and several close shots but try as they might, they could not find the back of the net. The players understood

the significance of the re- sult and with only 1 match remaining; it was a case of throwing the kitchen sink at

it. This approach was

the year. Congrats to Oran and his family from every- one at Midleton FC’. The award will be presented at Cork Schoolboys League Annual Awards Night in the

always going to carry a risk of a counter attack, and that is exactly what hap- pened. Mid-way through the second half, the lively Corinthians attacker ran on to a very clever through ball to stroke the second goal past Bartek in goals. In truth, there was no

turning back at this point. Carrigtwohill continued to press more in hope than expectation now but

the

weary bodies were being exposed now at

the back

and Corinthians capital- ised in clinical fashion to put a very unfair gloss on the scoreline. The team were disap-

pointed at the final whistle. Fair

play to Corinthians

who defended very well and were clinical in front of goals when the opportuni- ties came but Carrigtwohill can be very proud of the effort made on the day. Despite

it being such

a good team effort, it was very easy to pick man of

the match. Darragh Hoare was a shining beacon in midfield. Tackling in de- fence, probing in midfield and at

the sharp end of

many of the attacks where he was unlucky not to score several times. However, it is in terms of his work rate, effort and willingness to put himself on the line for his team where he shone most. An example to his teammates Man of the Match :

Darragh Hoare
