Cobh Playground Fundraising Holding Table Quiz This Friday

Cobh Playground Fundraising is holding a table quiz this Friday, 26 May.
Hosted by the Bally-
noe Inn, Cobh, the table quiz fundraiser begins at 8.30pm and will run until 11.30pm. A table is priced at €20 with the proceeds going towards Cobh Play- ground Fundraising. Cobh’s Patrick Hamil-
ton will be quizmaster on the night which will also feature spot prizes and a raffle. Regarding the raffle, Cobh Playground Fundraising would be grateful to anyone
any local businesses who would consider donating spot prizes for the event. Cobh Playground Fundraising also wished to express special thanks to
those of the Ballynoe Inn. “These good people,” statement
said a given us from
Cobh Playground Fund- raising, “have
amazing help. They are always kind enough to host our meetings,
host or
our events and when things must be re-jigged to ensure a successful event it is never a problem. It is because of the com- munity spirit of this local business and of dozens of other local businesses just like it, both big and small, that we are able to provide locations for our events as well prizes for our draws and raffles.” On Sunday, 28 May

Alan Hurley, a com-
mittee member of Cobh Playground Fundraising who has raised approx- imately €5,000 for the group during the last 12 to 18 months,
will run
the Cork City Marathon to again fundraise for the group.
Cobh Playground Fundraising will hold its Family Fun Day at
the
Paddocks, Cobh on Satur- day, 10 June. The day’s ac- tivities will include music, races, bouncy castles with food provided. Cobh Playground Fundraising was estab- lished in July 2015 to resolve
the inadequate
playground situation that exists in the town. The group’s aim is to supplant the under-equipped play- grounds at
the Five Foot
Way and the Promenade with an all-inclusive play- ground suitable
for the
2670+ children between the ages of 0-12 years and 3615 children below the age of 18, including chil- dren with special needs or those who are different- ly-abled. The group was recently successful in one of its many grant appli- cations, securing €7,000 in funding from the De- partment of Children and Youth Affairs under the Capital Grant Scheme for Play and Recreation 2017. Ballinrostig Vintage Club Looking For Local Traders and Participants for July Field Day

Club will hold its Annual Field Day on Sunday, 2 July. The
Vintage Club,
which celebrates its 10th anniversary, will hold its Annual Field Day in a new venue this year, albe- it one still located within Ballinrostig Village. The Field day will run from 1-6pm with adults paying a cover charge of €5 with accompanied children entering for free. Parking is also free. Proceeds raised from
the day will go towards the Vintage Club’s end- of-year cheque presenta- tions to Marymount Hos- pice, Midleton Hospital
and other local charities. The day will feature a
host of activities includ- ing displays of vintage cars, tractors, bikes, trucks and stationary engines, trade stalls, the Munster Sheep Dog Trials, a dog show, children’s activities and refreshments. “Normally we don’t
have it until the end of July but we are holding it early due to the Munster Sheep Dog Trials,” Denis O’Driscoll of Ballinrostig Vintage Club. There will be a treasure hunt, Spin the Wheel, trashing, foot- ball and kids sports. We will have a refreshments tent and music in the field by Bride Valley Boys. There will be a dance floor there too for any-
body who wants to do a bit of dancing. There will be the Sheaf Throwing competition and a trac- tor barrel race for the Pat Hickey Memorial Tro- phy. Mark Rafferty from Co Kildare will have his 1982 Ford Granada ex -Garda car on display to show its history. We are having Ger’s Mobile Pet Farm from Co Limerick. The Grand Raffle will take place at the end of the day and at the mo- ment our ticket

are out and about selling tickets.” This year’s Field Day coincides with both the club’s tenth anniversary in operation and Ford motor company’s 100th year in Ireland.
