In the centre of the town, the PURBECK SPORTS CENTRE is a large, multi-activity centre where everyone is welcome to use the facilities on either a regular or occasional basis.

Te rooms have complimentary Wi-Fi, and there are breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Te Isle of Purbeck area has many attractions: for those interested in history and heritage the iconic Corfe Castle is a reminder of the Civil War. Tere is also the BLUE POOL at Furzebrook. Hartland Manor should not be missed, and Swanage Railway’s steam engine journeys offer a trip back in time. Natural attractions abound from the Wareham Forest to Durlston Country Park, where dolphins can be spotted.
Te BLUE POOL at Furzebrook varies in colour: at times green and sometimes turquoise. Steps lead down to the water’s edge or up to views of the Purbeck Hills. Te Pool is surrounded by woodland and gorse interlaced with sandy paths that seem to take you to another world.
Kimmeridge is famous for its fossil finds and interesting marine creatures. Should fossils and related matters be your passion you must visit the fascinating Etches Collection. Tis is the result of one man’s passion of over 30 years of discovery and diligent research, dogged determination, not just to find and collect specimens, but also to bring to life the amazing stories of the creatures that existed in the Kimmeridgian age. Tis museum is probably the best of its type in the World.
Te bay is part of the Purbeck Marine Wildlife Reserve, and on the beach is the Fine Foundation Marine Centre. Worbarrow Bay is a short drive or a three mile walk along the Coast Path from Kimmeridge. Church Knowle is
a pretty village found above Corfe Castle, from here to Kimmeridge has attractive scenery, and just outside the village is the Margaret Green Foundation Trust animal sanctuary.
Corfe is overlooked by the ruins of Corfe Castle (C1086). Other attractions include a Model Village and interactive exhibition, the Village Museum, the Swanage Steam Railway and interesting shops.
Kingston, Worth Matravers and Langton Matravers are found south of Corfe Castle. Tese small villages are a popular destination not only for the South West Coast Path and the Jurassic Coast, but also for the area’s stone working

PUTLAKE ADVENTURE FARM is the only adventure farm and indoor soft play area in Swanage for up to 10 miles. Tis is a working farm, with animals, tractor rides, outdoor play equipment, pedal Go-Karts, picnic areas, trampolines, birds, a pet centre, tearooms and much more. When tired of running around the farm, enjoying the animals and games or the weather takes a turn for the worst, inside there is a giant, indoor soft play area. We also have camping facilities, with on site toilets and showers.
history. Te Square and Compass pub in Worth Matravers has a Fossil Museum next door, and there are annual Stone Carving or Pumpkin festivals. Tis area has many walks and trails including: the ‘Smugglers’ Ways’ from Worth Matravers down to the coast path. A another is the Purbeck Way to Kingston and Chapman’s Pool. Tere are also walks to Dancing Ledge, around Worth Matravers and to St Aldhelm’s Head.
Langton Matravers is reached by taking the A351 from Wareham to Corfe Castle and the B3069 from the far end of Corfe Castle village. Tere are many footpaths in and around the village, and the Coastal Path which is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site is just
BURNGATE STONE CARVING CENTRE is an Educational Charitable Trust, keeping alive the tradition of stone and quarrying in Purbeck. We run mixed children and family stone carving sessions on Tuesdays and Tursdays during school holidays and half terms. Children from 6 years. Stone carving courses run throughout the year for individuals, family groups, corporate team building, schools, stag and hen parties and more. Visitors are welcome – we have a Gallery of Stone works for sale, a small tearoom and local art and craft for sale. Booking is essential.
