Isle of Portland


Te Isle of Portland is renowned for many things, including the famous stone used in many iconic buildings like St Pauls cathedral. Te history of stone quarrying is evidenced by massive holes in the ground, one of which is Tout Quarry and Sculpture Park. Portland has an interesting past, from having prisons to being a naval base. Now this naturally beautiful place is a favourite holiday area with many attractions. Tere is also a new attraction at Castledown exhibiting WWII US Army memorabilia and history.


Built over two levels, the CASTLETOWN D-DAY CENTRE is an exciting new visitor attraction that offers an immersive visitor experience that tells the story of the


Dorset based US forces that embarked for the beaches of Normandy in June 1944.
