The Tamar Valley

Cotele A

rea of natural Beauty, the Tamar Valley is comprised of quiet villages, bustling towns, beaches, moors, ancient harbours, industrial heritage, picturesque countryside, and a vast selection of attractions. Cycling, walking and horse riding is popular on both quiet rural roads and off-road tracks, plenty of interesting stops and excellent places to eat and stay along the way. In the area there are miles of river valleys bordered with gentle rolling fields, open woodland, and occasional impressive cliffs.

Launceston, with its Norman Castle, Georgian houses with glorious gardens, intricately carved church, narrow granite lined streets, town square, and historically the Capital of Cornwall, is very Cornish. On the borders of Devon and Cornwall near the Tamar Valley and close to the coast of dramatic cliffs with glorious sandy beaches, Launceston is a good holiday

base. Tere are a range of specialty shops and markets selling Cornish produce to unusual gifts, out of town retail parks, and a range of sports grounds and clubs open to visitors. Rural agricultural shows, fairs, craft/antique markets, music crashes, heritage and countryside events entertain and provide the visitor with an insight of life in the area.

THE WHITE HORSE INN is known for its excellent food and friendly atmosphere. It is only a short stroll up the hill to see Launceston’s narrow streets with buildings of all styles and ages, from Tudor to Georgian to Gothic Victorian. Castle Street has many Georgian town houses. We are open from 11am to 11pm daily. Food is served 12–2:30 and 6–9. Don’t miss Launceston’s best Sunday Carvery. We look forward to welcoming you.

Te above, and an array of attractions make Launceston an interesting holiday choice: i.e.

the award winning LAWRENCE HOUSE MUSEUM is a trip back in time, as is the Victorian Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre. TRETHORNE LEISURE PARK is a fantastic all weather family DAY OUT.
