DEVELOPMENT SIDE AND ACADEMY NEWS
IT’S been a busy transfer
window for the Bluebirds development side as the coaching staff have recruited no fewer than four players to their already strong squad. The Bluebirds fought off
opposition to sign Ewan Jones. Ewan joins having represented the development on a few occasions last season and he will add steel to the back four plying his trade at centre back. Mark Davies returns having
been an integral part of Steve Batty’s U19s sides of the past... Mark played for the young Bluebirds in the 2014/15 season when they narrowly missed out on the league title after a long run of end of season fixtures. awareness tactically in the middle of the park will really provide a cutting edge going forward. Calum Syddall returns having
previously played for the Valero sponsored academy at younger age groups. Calum has enjoyed regular football at local level at Pendine and is a welcome return to the club. Finally, Chris Brown becomes
our second signing from local rivals Carmarthen Town. Chris, who is a very accomplished left back, adds extra balance to the side down the left and has represented Welsh Colleges at international level. Chris has proved to be a big addition to the squad with his professional attitude and winning
mentality. Since signing, all four have
played a big role in adding competition for places and this has created a very strong and competitive mentality within the squad. This has shown in the young Bluebirds early 2017 form which has seen them win 3 out of the last 4 games. We wish all four lads the best of
luck for the rest of the season and an enjoyable future at the Conygar Bridge Meadow.
UNDER-19:
HAVERFORDWEST COUNTY 6 PENYBONT 1
The Development side side had
an impressive league win against Penybont on a very wet Conygar Bridge Meadow surface on Sunday, January 29. Four goals before the break put them in a comfortable position. Several chances came and went in the second half though a further two were scored by the Bluebirds. Scorers for the Blues were Stottor, Nicholson (2), Raicu, Padiwa and Miller, whom the management felt was Man-of-the- Match.

HAVERFORDWEST
COUNTY picked up their seventh win of the season with a comfortable 3-1 win over Penybont on Saturday, February 4. This victory looked likely from
the very start, with the Bluebirds really dominating the first 20 minutes. They were without four key
players, Stefan Antoniazzi, Steffan Davies Nicky Palmer and Antonio Facciuto, but Spencer Williams once again slotted in coolly at left back while Kristian Speake shone in a left-flank striker’s role. Ricky Watts and Lee Hudgell were in complete control in midfield and the attackers pressed forward. The game was still goalless
though at half-time, but the Bluebirds went ahead, in the 60th minute, with a cracking 25-yard shot from Ashley Bevan. Twenty minutes later Kristian
Speake, who also had a fine game, finished from Steffan Williams’ pass. In the 88th minute Penybont
did pull one goal back, but within a minute of that reply the Blues restored the two-goal advantage when a lovely move involving Hudgell and Speake released Bevan down the left and he cut the ball back

in for Steff Williams, racing in from the right, to apply the finish. This was a really convincing
90-minute performance and gives notice to the First Division that the
Bluebirds, at home or away, are now a team to be concerned about. Tomorrow (Feb 11) the Blues
entertain Monmouth Town with a 2.30 kick-off.
