They wanted the best, and it is a great satisfaction that the customer is happy with the result.” Once the decisions on the audio equipment were finalised, the next aspect to tackle was the lighting. Mr Dai once again turned to his designer Mr Eric to take charge of the lighting design. Mr Eric was supported by an in-house team of lighting experts who completed the installation of the lighting fixtures. Mr Eric said: “Mr Dai told me that he would like to have high performance levels for both the lighting and sound system. Not

only high performance in comparison to Beijing city and the establishments here, but also within the Chinese industry as a whole.” This was a tough brief, so Mr Eric set to work. The primary brief for the lighting design was to consider the customers. Different lighting images are created dependent on whether customers are at the seating area or on the dancefloor. In order to ensure customers were encapsulated by the lighting, no matter their position within the club, several layers of lighting were needed. The different lighting elements included: an LED wall, which runs along two sides of the main room; a video wall situated centrally behind the DJ booth; a selection of miniature moving heads that unusually are mounted to the wall surrounding the DJ booth; and a more generic lighting rig for the main dancefloor.
