in there had to be professional, top-notch, rugged gear that could take the hammering every day and night. Withstanding non-stop bass, and lighting, and fog, and kryo and all the stuff that goes on in there.” SenovvA has devised a system that brings the visual elements coherently together, but with a flexibility that means the various parts can work independently or as one fluid show. The company specialises in producing continues visual canvases, which was one of the reasons it was chosen for the project. Amongst the effects that have been installed is a Kryogenifex Liquid Nitrogen System, which is Las Vegas’ first permitted patented effects kryo system. From the state-of-the-art kryo station on the club’s second floor, over 100ft of pipe runs down to the main dancefloor on the first floor and blasts subzero fog onto revelers. Other effects include 4-Lite Audience Blinders, Martin Professional 3000 strobes, a Lightwave 5W full-colour laser and Martin Professional Jem ZR44 fog machine. Marquee’s Main Room sound system is dominated by a custom- designed Funktion One configuration, which installers Sound Investment Audio (SIA) describe as possessing ‘a performance level that vastly exceeds any currently existing nightclub audio system’. It is a claim that is difficult to substantiate, but it certainly gives a clear

indication of its magnitude. SIA’s Todd Konecny revealed: “The Main Room at Marquee is a challenging acoustic space because the stage is located at one end of a large circle of VIP seating. It is critically important to minimise the amount of sound sources in a room to avoid coherency issues between sources. Our design takes advantage of Funktion One’s highly controlled dispersion characteristics to create a speaker cluster with a coverage pattern of approximately 125° horizontal by 50° vertical. The result is a wide bandwidth, high output point source that engages the listening area from a minimum number of sources.” There are four Funktion One / SIA custom clusters. The two larger clusters are situated either side of the stage, and comprise four Funktion One upper bass horn loaded enclosures utilising the Funktion One patented loading technique and 15-inch proprietary loudspeakers. Furthermore, there are five Funktion One 10- inch Axhead horns arranged in 120° point source arc, with five hornloaded proprietary 1-inch HF drivers. Two smaller clusters of two 15-inch horns, three 10-inch and three 1-inch horns, ensure a fully enveloping dancefloor configuration. The system’s subwoofers are multiple F221 bass cabinets, with dual 21-inch drivers on Funktion One folded horns. The processing is a hybrid combination
