Sport Development Apply for an AED Grant

The most important equipment on your

team’s sideline this spring isn’t a stick or helmet, but rather an automated external defi brillator (AED). It could save a life. The most effective treatment for dealing with sudden cardiac arrest and the phenomenon of commotio cordis is the immediate use of an AED. Through a partnership with Cardiac Science, these life-saving units can be acquired at discounted rates by US Lacrosse members. To learn more, visit uslacrosse.org/aed. Matching grants are offered by US Lacrosse.

Apply for soft-stick equipment and workshop grants US Lacrosse is accepting applications for physical education lacrosse workshop grants and soft-stick lacrosse equipment grants. Both grant applications can be accessed online at uslacrosse.org/pegrant, and submitted to US Lacrosse through March 1.

Soft-stick lacrosse is a co-ed version of lacrosse that utilizes sticks with specially molded heads and a large, soft ball. This modifi ed equipment is designed for youth to achieve quick success executing the basics skills of lacrosse with no additional protective equipment required. “We’re pleased to be able to offer these grant opportunities once again to help school and community groups introduce the game to youth players in a safe and friendly environment,” said Meghan Mulford, programs manager at US Lacrosse. “Soft-stick lacrosse is a fun way to learn the game.”
