Instructor approval is required for all Basic 2 and higher classes. Children must successfully complete prior level class before advancing to the next level.
The Skating Director and instructional staff will evaluate skaters as to the level they may skate. Please be aware that your child may not automatically advance to the next level after one session.
Figure Skating
The Glenview Ice Center Skate School is a United Skates Figure Skating program. Called the USFS Basic Skills program, it was designed by US Figure Skating to be the best beginning and continuing ice skating program that serves the needs of both recreational and competitive skaters.
Fall Figure Skating Classes: September 10 -November 17
Figure Skating Practice Ice — Practice ice for figure skaters is offered in the form of Freestyle and Moves in the Field sessions. Skaters walk on and pay as they go. Practice ice schedules, policies and forms are available at the Ice Center and on the website. Practice ice Fees: 30 min = $6 Tu. Evenings, 5:15-6:15 pm, 60 min = $12

Snowplow Sam Program
The Snowplow Sam levels are designed to help the preschool age skater develop preliminary coordination and strength to maneuver on the ice.

Basic Skills Program 1-8
These eight levels of the program introduce the fundamental moves of the sport. Upon successful completion of the Basic levels, skaters will advance into the Free Skate levels.
Basic 1 (Ages 6 to 12)
For those who have never skated or had formal lessons. Elements: falling and getting up, marching, 2 foot glides, forward swizzles, backward wiggles, beginning snowplow stops. ID#
