the added benefit of avoiding the rush- hour congestion. We are lucky in Jersey as we have about 50 miles of green lanes designed to make the Island a friendlier place to walk and cycle and where the speed limit is just 15 miles an hour. If all this relaxed cycling sounds too easy, here in Jersey we are also blessed with many cycling clubs from the Jersey Cycling Association Youth Acadamy to the Jersey Rouleurs and the even more speedy, full-on racing clubs such as the Caeserean Cycling Club, the Velo Sport Jersey Club, Equip Flamme Rouge and others. They are all involved with high- end racing in all its forms around the island during the months of March to October with brisk club rides in the off- season.
If that sounds a little daunting, then you can take a step back and get the family together on their bikes and go watch one of the many events that these clubs hold. A good choice would be the Frank Machon Track at Les Quennevais where you get to view the action every couple of minutes as the competitors come whizzing past. But beware, these guys can shift, so stand well back.
As much as we are blessed with many beautiful roads, beaches, pubs and sights to visit, Jersey also has many bike shops offering a wealth of knowledge and expertise. A couple of these shops cater for specialist cyclists, but most can tailor bikes and accessories to suit the needs of weekend family outings. So you really have no excuse!

All you need to do now is a bit of scouting around to find the bikes you need and then enjoy your cycling.
