Would privatising the States sports centres improve the service and efficiency? This is a difficult question to answer without extensive research.
We know that from recent government surveys that Sport was one of the top performing areas with a score of 74% in terms of it being important and valued by islanders.
What are they doing to try and achieve this? We are trying to deliver on the ‘Fit for Future strategy’ namely in the area of ‘spaces and places’ which makes commitments towards:
• Ensuring the States sport centres are efficiently run and available to the whole community.
• Invest in maintenance and upgrades. • Provide services that attract more users. • Keep prices affordable for groups and individuals.
We are trying to deliver a product with a strong customer focus working across boundaries and departments. Feedback and surveys are done annually to ensure services are developed to meet the public’s needs efficiently and provide value for money. A good example of this is the recent Active Jersey’ app launch for Active card customers.
Another being the booking solution at
Fort Regent was recently changed to provide a far more efficient way for the public to book shows and events. We focus on constantly improving.
