Digital Jersey is continuing to work towards a seamless education flow right through to higher education and we hope to make more announcements about this in 2018.
Apprenticeships which have seen an unwarranted fall out of favour in recent years, are back in vogue because a new generation appreciate the benefit of work experience and learning while earning compared to the prospect of a huge debt on graduation. JT, Sure, KPMG and Logicalis are all offering tech/digital apprenticeships and the Trackers Apprenticeship programme run by the States of Jersey is also offering a new Digital Apprenticeship.
2018 is bringing lots more exciting developments in our industry. Not least, is the launch of a new Internet of Things Lab which will see both on-island and off-island development teams testing cutting edge technology on our island.
The Digital Jersey Hub is the connecting and collaboration space for the industry, a place where Jersey’s tech industry comes to work, network and learn. Our membership has grown nearly 300% in the last two years, we have doubled the number of entrepreneurs renting permanent desks and individual tech members have tripled in less than two years. Digital sector employment has jumped 20% since 2013 and this pace of growth is increasing every year. We need to diversify our economy and we need to remain competitive in a global space. This means embracing all the opportunities this technological revolution brings us and harnessing them to the benefit of our whole island.
