been such a complementary consolidation. “Our sole concern was in making sure the coming together of the two businesses would grow the business as a whole, and we have been incredibly fortunate that the cultures of IGT and GTECH were so well aligned,” says Mr. Bugno. “We are also fortunate to have a leader like Marco Sala, who is embracing of the values of the company – in fact I’d say that he embodies the values of IGT. He is passionate about our business, he has a personal touch with the customers and that translates into the culture of the business.”

Asked about his pick of the products on the stand at this year’s ICE, Mr. Bugno returns to the discussion with G3 back in 2012, when he highlighted SPHINX 3D as his “winner” product. “Just as I said then that SPHINX 3D was my personal pick of the new products/technologies that would shape the future of the market,” says Mr. Bugno. “Right now, PlaySpot™ is that product. Watch this space, as it’s the product that has the capacity to shape the industry for the next couple of years.”

customer. More and more of our customers have spread their offer across different technologies and channels, and in many cases completely across product segments products that, in the past, we would not have thought compatible. IGT has benefitted from the two years of ‘dress-rehearsals’ within GTECH as we strove to link lottery and gaming and figure out how gaming could interconnect with interactive. When we completed the integration with IGT, which I’ve always said was a complementary consolidation of businesses, the company has been able to build on the foundations we started at GTECH.”

IGT has continued an optimisation process started by GTECH and has brought that process through to its logical conclusion. While it would be erroneous to say it’s been effortless, the process hasn’t been as hard as many imagine, because as Mr. Bugno highlights, it’s

“We don’t talk about omni- channel as a strategy. Now it’s simply a way of life. If you take any of the big operators, if you want your product with those clients you can’t just supply a retail or online product. Whenever we think about new product development it has to encompass all segments.

Utilising IGT’s PlaySpot, visitors to land based casinos can use their mobile device to play slots and table games for real money, and place sports bets, in a single, easy-to-use, branded mobile app. Te technology also integrates with a casino’s back office and patron management systems and features comprehensive management and reporting tools. “Whenever we present PlaySpot to a casino operator, it’s hard for them not to see a major benefit in one or more of the functionalities of PlaySpot added to their business,” states Mr. Bugno. “I really think it’s a step-change in casino operations and I’m very excited about it.”

Discussing PlaySpot as part of the omni- channel dialogue so popular across the stands at ICE, Mr. Bugno outlined his view that such topics had become obsolete “We don’t talk about omni-channel as a strategy,” describes Mr. Bugno. “Now it’s simply a way of life. If you take any of the big operators, if you want your product with those clients you can’t just supply a retail product or an online product. Whenever we think about new product development it has to encompass all product segments. Whether our customers are casino, lottery or online operators they are looking to move with the latest trends, they want to differentiate their offering and to grab customer attention with memorable products and brands. It’s therefore natural if we have strong brands in our portfolio, Wheel Of Fortune® is a great example, that we translate those from casino gaming to social gaming, to interactive gaming and to lottery gaming – it’s a natural extension for us.”

CPI unveils banknote recycler SCR Advance

Tis year’s ICE show was the ideal platform for the CPI team to launch their most recent innovation – the SCR Advance note recycler

Anette Jauch, CPI Sales Director - EMEA Gaming

SCR Advance was specifically designed for non- TITO environments like the German AWP market, where paying jackpots in coins frequently resulted in hopper starvation. It evolved from the original SCR note recycler and builds upon a legacy of great acceptance, unparalleled security and the fastest transaction speeds on the market – all features that play a vital role in machine uptime and the player experience. What makes SCR Advance different, though, is the new technology it leverages to combat note jams, an issue that can put machines out of service and frustrate players just as frequently as hopper starvation. SCR Advance, in fact, offers the lowest jam rate ever seen in a note recycling product.

“Continuous improvement is at the heart of our business,” said Anette Jauch, CPI sales director – EMEA Gaming. “We applied new technology, new research and new customer feedback in order to bring SCR Advance to market, and we are thrilled at the reaction we received for it at ICE. We are confident that SCR Advance will make a real, tangible difference for operators and players alike. No other note recycler can beat it.”

CPI always looks for ways to deliver more value to its customers. Tis was evident in the other products the company showed at ICE – including EASITRAX. Tis integrated software/hardware solution provides operators with a complete view into how their SC note acceptors are performing in their machines – allowing them to better manage their cash on the floor all the way to the back room. EASITRAX is installed in more than 200,000 games globally and continues to gain traction in EMEA, where EASITRAX is about to be installed in several thousand slot machines across multiple casinos. It is also being rolled out in considerable numbers to VLT operations within the region.

“We send our thanks to everyone who came to see us at ICE”, said Ms. Jauch. “Te hallmark of our business is to bring more value to our customers in everything we do. Te SCR Advance created a great buzz with our visitors and the prospects for EASITRAX are excellent in Europe to build upon the massive success it is enjoying in America and Macao.”
