Two major deals have strengthened Gaming Partners International position in Asia with a bid to buy rival chip manufacturer Dolphin Products Limited from Entertainment Gaming Asia (EGA) prior to the show, quickly followed by an expanded agreement with Walker Digital Table Systems to develop and enhance their PJM Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) technologies.

Te Dolphin brand is a supplier to major casinos in Asia and Australia. Te asset sale represents Dolphin’s and EGA’s exit from the table game equipment business and, as part of the transaction, Dolphin and EGA will each agree not to engage in the manufacture of table game equipment in competition with GPI.

Te RFID deal meanwhile will enhance the development time typically required to introduce and commercialise new and innovative PJM RFID offerings to the market. Both parties feel this is a big step forward in sustaining and growing a long-term, working partnership. RFID is utilised in a variety of table game applications, including gaming currency and table game solutions.

“We are excited that WDTS and GPI will collaborate on the development and distribution of PJM RFID technology and applications,” said Neil Crossan, Senior Vice President – WDTS. “Being the largest supplier of RFID technology, GPI has a wealth of experience in the field, and this together with the innovation that WDTS brings to the gaming floor will serve the industry well.”

“GPI is looking forward to its expanded collaborative efforts with WDTS and combining our experience in the development and delivery of RFID technologies,” commented Gregory Gronau, GPIC’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “An expanded working relationship offers the opportunity to capitalise on our respective core strengths and maximise our synergies into creating and developing value added products and solutions.”
