GPI AT READY FOR NEW OPENINGS Maricela Maciel

With a single Macau casino opening generating sales of around 900,000 chips, 137,000 plaques and US$6.4m for GPI, the importance of Asia is clear

“We have a very solid customer base across the whole of Australasia,” said Maricela Maciel, GPI Marketing Manager, “so we’re not overly dependant on any one region. This year we’re here following the purchase of Gemaco playing cards, which has made us so much more than just a currency vendor. We’re now the complete package. The purchase has also provided us with a manufacturing plant out here in Macau from where we can manufacture playing cards and layouts.”

Gemaco’s playing cards include two paper lines, Traditional and Alpha, and two plastic lines, Proflex and Superflex. The company’s layouts include Graphic FX, EGC 1.5 and EGC 2.0. Nylon Graphic FX layouts are long-wearing and offer full color, photo quality graphics and a smooth playing surface. EGC 1.5 and 2.0 are made from a polyester blend and like Graphic FX, can include full color graphics and photo quality images. The EGC 1.5 offers a smooth low nap surface while EGC 2.0 provides a slick surface for speedier deals.

GPI was also sponsoring the All Asia Dealers‘ Championship as the Official Chip Supplier. Ms Maciel explained: “We’re proud to be a sponsor of the first All Asia Dealers Championship. We’re providing our B&G brand of Jetons and brand new V- Series chips as a part of the competition which is great as it means so many dealers will be handling our latest lines of chips. Dealers love to comment on the quality feel of a chip so hopefully they will take

their feedback back to the pit bosses and purchasing teams.”

The B&G V-series is a line of injection molded chips produced with a new chip material formula that is more durable and also includes ChipShield, an antimicrobial that helps keep chips cleaner longer. The V-Series chip molds are designed to offer more versatile designs and can be produced with either an A or B sized decal.

GPI was also showing 3-in-1 UV chips, which boast a security taggant that remains invisible under standard UV wavelengths.

The company’s SecuriFilm security feature sees a decal security film with a semi-transparent hologram-like effect added to the chip that enables quick dealer authentication. SecuriFilm can be easily authenticated at the table and includes an additional covert feature enabling a higher level of back-of- house validation.

The company has also expanded its Smart RFID portfolio, a cheaper, faster version of RFID using new 13.6 HZ technology exclusive to GPI.

Ms Maciel added: “We’re working on the roll-out of Smart RFID now. Its lower price point means it is great for the industry as a whole and with the new openings coming up in Macau it is an ideal time to be presenting such a product in a table dominated market. Our Chip Inventory System gives casinos the ability to track their RFID chips from the cage, fill-bank or vault to the floor, providing a powerful, real-time inventory tool that can improve casino security and efficiency while providing valuable insight into daily operations.”
