SYLVIA DIETZ Vice President Global Marketing Gaming, IGT

It’s been a big shock for me to get the dreadful news of Jens having passed away while I was attending this year’s G2E Asia show. It’s been somewhat impossible to imagine the gaming industry without him – he’s been around for as long as I can remember, from my very first days in the industry. I fondly remember the many years of ICE at Earls Court where we’d catch up during build-up over a hot coffee, as it was always freezing cold in the hall. I think we’ve literally met at every gaming event in every part of the world – where ever I went, I was sure to meet Jens. It’s hard to believe he will not be there in the future… Jens, we will all miss you.

TRISTAN SJOBERG Executive Chairman TCSJohnHuxley

“I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Jens for many years and we shared many laughs, and some tears, over the years. We started working closely together when our two companies launched TouchBet Roulette in early 2000’s and from that time my father Bertil, brother Michael and myself, developed a strong and lasting friendship. His untimely death has left a void in the industry, as Jens was a one off – a smart, funny, genuine guy who was truly a gentleman. To say Jens was a larger than life character, would be an understatement. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.”

ROBERT DYKSTRA Managing Director Ainsworth UK

Charismatic – Professional – Attentive. A few words that jump to mind thinking back on Jens Halle. He made a big impression on me by way of his professional and charismatic presence either at tradeshows, negotiations or informal gatherings. Always the perfect host during the many ICE events, he would welcome each and every one of his guests personally at the entrance coming to the Novomatic/TCSJH parties. In business he stood out by way of knowing his product, customers and markets inside out so he could not easily be surprised. He passed away too young but will remain in our heart and mind as a unique outstanding person in this industry of which there are only a few.

HARALD WAGEMAKER EVP Sales & Marketing of Gaming and Casino EMEA, SUZOHAPP

Although my experience in the industry doesn’t even come close to the time Jens Halle spent in it, to me personally he came across as a personality - one with a good business sense and a very personal touch. To me it was always a pleasure to deal with him and I look back with warm memories to our meetings and he will be greatly missed by many. My heart goes out to his family, relatives and personal friends who have lost more than the person we knew to be very active and appreciated. His sudden and unexpected death makes me humble and realize that life is too short to waste on things that don’t give one pleasure. I feel that Jens really enjoyed what he did and passed on this positivity in all his dealings in our industry.

GAVIN ISAACS President & Chief Executive Officer Scientific Games

We at Scientific Games are saddened to hear of Jens’ sudden passing. He has been a well-known and well-regarded leader in our industry for nearly 30 years. Although I never had the chance to work as a direct colleague of Jens, he and I both worked for Bally Technologies, and I know he served Bally well as its Managing Director for Europe.

Jens is someone who you always looked forward to seeing at industry events. His warm smile, his hearty laugh, and his passion for his team, his company, and our industry were genuine. He will be missed by many but has left an indelible impression on all of us.

JOHN CARROLL Owner Carroll Consulting

As we all were, I was shocked when I heard the news of Jens’ death. I did not want to believe it. He was a person who played such a defining role in our industry. Regardless of his success, he never changed – he was always friendly and approachable, always found the time to talk. His talent for remembering names was amazing – it seemed that he knew everybody in the industry. He exuded positivity – always looking on the bright side of life. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Rest in peace, Jens.
