JÜRGEN STÜHMEYER Member of the Board for Sales Gauselmann Group
It is imperceptible – one just does not want to believe it. Our colleague and friend Jens Halle passed away far too soon. We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of his sudden and unexpected death. He was one of the best-known personalities of the international gaming business and stood out in particular through his charismatic and open nature. He very quickly acquired an excellent reputation at the Gauselmann Group. Jens’ passing away leaves a painful void both from a personal and professional standpoint. Our thoughts are with his family in this difficult time.
HARMEN BRENNINKMEIJER SVP of Asia and Strategic Markets, Inspired
See You Again,
From the time I entered the gaming industry in 1991 You showed me the way and the value of how to work within “this privileged industry” You said “I will show you around and show you what it all is about” and you did, 25 years in which we made many deals and great alliances, have now come to an end
We will miss your straightforwardness We will not experience anymore that you were a man of your word and a deal-is-a-deal Once you agreed to it, you would not back off Yes, many of your deals had been compromised but you would do whatever it takes to make it right
JON LANCASTER Executive Director International Sales WMS Gaming
I first met Jens over 20 years ago when I first joined the industry as a rookie from University. Despite his established credentials and seniority Jens was always approachable and willing to give time and advice to those starting out in the business. Over the ensuing years we would become competitors in our different companies but Jens was always candid and ready to work together on common industry matters. Jens was a mentor and inspiration to everyone in the business. His customer focused approach, work ethic and infectious personality made him one of the most popular and respected industry figures. The industry has lost a top quality leader and a dear friend. My thoughts are with his family at this time.
Working with you was easy, it was clear where you stood for You did not mend words, you understood Even if people would take advantage of it, you stood above it You knew that in the end some you might lose, but most you would win
Jens, until the end you wanted to do it again What you felt was lost was to be regained One more challenge to show the industry That consolidation and M&A wasn’t replacing organic innovation
That you may rest in peace and think of all you accomplished That the difference you made to me and many We will continue along the way and that we will See you again
MARCUS PRATER Executive Director AGEM
My time with Jens goes back to early 1999, when I started as the new marketing person for Bally in Las Vegas while he was the company’s top sales person in Europe. He left for Novomatic within months and so I ultimately came to know him more as a competitor, and years later, as an AGEM supporter and ultimately as a friend. In this world filled with boring conversations, every interaction with Jens was interesting and stimulating – and there are very few people I can say that about. The simple truth is there are very few people like Jens, period, and I’m deeply saddened that he is gone.
JOHANNES WEISSENGRUBER Founder and CEO APEX gaming
Jens Halle was a gentleman. He passionate about gaming and was a dedicated professional who was very focused. He always took the necessary time for meetings regardless of how busy he may have been. I will remember him as a warm- hearted person whose personality shone through. He had a special way of dealing with people. He was very approachable with a charming and likeable personality. His knowledge of our industry was practically immeasurable – seldom have I ever met a person with such in-depth understanding of our industry – and that on a global level. I always enjoyed meeting Jens. My heart-felt condolences go to his family.
